Anyone here ever go to Molly's Wax Shop in raleigh for waxing needs? I'm looking for a place now that I'm settled here. But I'm nervous, I dont want to go somewhere and have an awful experience.

If you're in the area, I've gotten multiple recommendations for European Wax Center at Brier Creek. It's a chain so probably pricier but reliable.

I'm just down the road from brier creek. So you've had positive experiences there? Price isn't a big factor to me (lol I'm not rich) but I had a bad experience last August and ever since I've been scared to get another brazilian again. But at the same time I also miss it.

the european waxing center, specifically, is a national chain known to pay their employees very little. who knows what other corners they are cutting?

I hear ya. Big chains are just more comfortable for a lot of folks cause they're so impersonal and predictable.

I've been there 4-5 times, and only had one bad experience (and as it turns out, I wasn't the only one that did with that girl, I was told she was fired shortly after I was there for getting similar complaints).

the other experiences I've have there were good, and generally much less painful than other places (they use a "patented" hard wax, no strips). your first visit is free (or $20 upgrade to brazilian) and they have packages and whatnot, but I've never had anyone try to hardsell me them or products. I can't speak for what they pay their employees, but I always chat it up with my waxer and they seem generally happy with the place, and go through "corporate training" so their techniques are pretty uniform.

I'd definitely give it a try. and it is much cheaper (I think $42 for a brazilian) than the other places around here

I'm kind of interested in what a bad experience entails.

I would assume: excessive discomfort, infected follicle, unwanted hair remaining, or rude service.

severe burn-like bruises all up in there, the pictures still make me wince. Part of it was my fault, I had just gone for a run and I was in the middle of my period, but I told her both these things and that I read that they were bad for waxing but she said it would be just fine. LIES.

I had infected follicles. Except it wasn't just a few of them. It was ALL my follicles. I was pretty pissed and called the salon. They apologized and gave me a second wax free. Happened again. Never again.

But I'm OK with that because I don't care to have to grow out my hair for 2 weeks to pay $50 for a week of being smooth.

the pain was worse over the next few days.

I want a place that is interested in their client's well-being than just making money and turning appointments

For me the brazilian lasted up to like 2 1/2-3 weeks before I really started to notice growth but I was only on my 4th time when I stop going being of the bad experience. It was much softer while it grew out, and time before growth is supposed to get longer after a while. the growth period wasn't too bad, it never got like a super 70s bush or anything

I've gotten a full body wax once and it was horrible. i had bruises in several places. I'm trimming for life unless I get invited to a celebrity orgy.

sephora has new rewards, finally! UD lipgloss, tarte mascara, argan oil and a new sephora collection 500 point reward (and tory burch cologne, but meh).

I've had good experiences with brazilians EWC - I go to the one off Tryon in Cary.

But I think I'm going to take the Cameron Diaz approach and just stop for a while. No matter what I do/where I go/etc. I always get ingrowns because my hair is THICK - anytime I get a new esthetician they always comment on it and apologize because it's going to hurt. So fuck it, BUSH TIME.

I usually shy away from two-piece bathing suits...

I have a couple that I bought several years ago when I was literally in no shape to be wearing them, so the bottoms are really big...

I decided if I ever found any that fit "just so" I would get some...

well Old Navy has hit it out of the park with this as well...I was able to get several inexpensive (sale + specials + rewards) separates that all actually look great on me, and I NEVER say that about a bathing suit

I am going to san diego in a few weeks and hoping it's warm enough in California for some pool sitting...

also...I'm going to the beach for a week in June...

I'm generally not the type who enjoys the "hang your wet suit up to dry then wear it again" type....i like my clothes to be clean....

and yes...that halter fit is awesome....halters are basically the only kind that are flattering on me...

I'm thinking about adding these separates to the mix since they are so inexpensive...

all those pieces together were cheaper than just one of the suits I bought years ago....they were Speedo brand and something like $80 each....

on a side note....in the correct size, those bottoms aren't nearly as low on as they appear...

oh, you should definitely pick one to categorically hate. since that's so interesting. and then never post anything positive in the thread and just come snipe at other people's tastes. all the cool kids are doing it.

If you think I never post anything positive then you are sadly mistaken. Just because I don't like your stupid bag is no reason to become a raging butthurt cunt.
