seriously? if he is still uncommitted at that point he would be playing on the same team as all 3 of our McDonald's All-American recruits. they would be able to recruit him, and tyler lewis would show him that he can get him the ball and set him up for success. if amile goes into that game/practices and still isn't committed, i think our chances go way up.

yeah, i'd think the McD's game would be more influential than who won Thursday's game. But none of us really know what he'll base his decision on.

[Edited on February 13, 2012 at 4:59 PM. Reason : and he'll probably make it before the McD's game]

No they're in the playoffs right now, and won today, as a matter of fact. The PAISAA tourney wraps up on the 18th, so I'm guessing we'll hear something early next week.

oh ok, nevermind then. guess that was the regular season schedule i saw.

it sounds like Torian Graham is going to go to prep school & reclassify into 2013 (a la Zo Brown)? has anyone else heard this too? That would be good with me...i think he'd still want to join us next year

I could see the Duke game going one of two ways in Jefferson's head. We lose, and he's like fuck that I want to play for winners blah blah blah. We lose, and he sees that we're lacking a skilled front court and he wants to get a boat load of minutes at NC State.

Or we could win...yeah right...and he's like oh shit I'm running with THE PACK.

^^I was thinking along the same lines. If the game has any bearing on his decision, then I'd venture a guess that an NCSU win would have more of a positive impact than an NCSU loss would detriment.

you'd have to think he's pretty much made-up his mind already, and is just waiting until his season is over to announce.

i think you're probably right...but i'm curious how you're 100% sure on this point. you know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who knows his uncle or something?

yeah I dont know which direction he is leaning, no one does, thats the point. But someone is going to try and put together a correlation between the outcome of the Duke game and his final decision - when they likely have little bearing on either

The timing of the game is pretty interesting...but I'd like to think/hope the outcome of the game has 0 impact on his decision.

rumors that Amile will be at the game tomorrow.

I don't think that would be good to have him there. He has a game tonight and on Friday if they win, so lets hope he wins tonight and doesnt go to the game in Cameron.

Friends Central won last night 67-64. Amile has a game tomorrow. I'd be very surprised if he came to the game tonight at Duke now.

Might be a sign that the staff doesn't like it's chances of signing Jefferson or Young, and is looking for a miracle from the 2013 class, namely a big man who can immediately fill the void left after Howell's and Leslie's departure.

^^We'll need post players even more in that class, with Painter and Howell (and possibly CJL) leaving.

So...you're probably reading it wrong.

julius randle is one of the top recruits of the 2013 class. we would take him regardless of how we close out the 2012 class.

Of course "we would take him regardless". But due to recruiting rules, the staff has to pick and choose who they focus on. They can't go after everyone. For them to increase pressure on Randle "lately", it sounds like a sign of desperation about the lack of depth or recruits in the frontcourt.

My interpretation is that AJ is probably a lost cause, and the staff is moving on to 2013.

i think you're thinking about it too much. the push for randle in 2013 probably has little to do with the 2012 class. any other reasoning is pure speculation.

I have a source that says we are definitely a strong consideration for Jefferson. In fact, my source is going to pull out all the stops to get him to commit to us tonight:

Quote :
"Scotty McCreery @ScottyMcCreery
Alrighty, tonight at 7 me and the boys are gonna try n trend "Amile Jefferson go to NCSU" .. If yall wanna help maybe a TP soon if it works!"

what's the rule about making a facebook group or whatever urging a player to go to your school...isn't that against ncaa rules? i assume scotty mccreery's idea would fall into a similar category...

I seem to recall that after the John Wall Facebook incident that someone from the NCAA implied that it was a booster-type violation even without the person posting the content being classified as a "booster". I could see twitter falling into the same category.

As a student, is making a sign that says, "Run with the Pack, Amile!!!" an NCAA violation? No. So, I highly doubt a high school kid that is just a fan of the team mentioning something about it on twitter is going to be a violation.

I'm pretty sure it was the university that asked to have that page shut down and not the NCAA. They were concerned about it being a potential infraction.

The perpetrator in the Facebook incident was actually a student, so I'm not sure if they'd take the same view for just any fan.

Regardless, I don't think it would take much of a stretch to say that a guy who was invited to throw the first pitch at a baseball game is a booster.
