I just knew Adebayor was going to score there after I saw Bale's pass.

Not a bad result I guess. I was hoping for more at home though.

I love how the commentators were sucking JT's dick for making that block....when in actuality he was the one playing adebayor onside. Man of the match my ass.

I think his current relevance is really high and that he hasn't produced a consistent body of work thus far in his career (partly due to injuries caused by shitty refereeing). But he is one of the most talented athletes in world football and he's shown significant improvement over the past season and a half. People compare his stats from last year to Theo Walcott but fail to mention the fact that Bale sat out injured for a good portion of last year and when he did play it was often not at full strength.

He's only 22 so only time will tell if he's the world class player he looks like or if he's another Michael Owen could-have-been.

Owen was already world class at 22.

I like Bale, I'm just saying there's at least 10-15 players I'd choose ahead of him for my team if I had the option.

Not sure where you're going with this, but I'd think if you spoke with most England fans they'd say that Walcott has been a disappointment thus far given his expectations... certainly for club as well.

[Edited on December 28, 2011 at 3:47 PM. Reason : and bale had more appearances than walcott last year. not like he missed half the season.]

So you're saying that there are only about 20 world class players at most? He's no Xavi or Ronaldo, but based on Bale's current valuation you'd have to say he's world class, especially considering that kind of player isn't generally sold so a valuation is hard to make.

I was only talking about players in the PL I'd pick before Bale. He'd probably be in the 40-50 area but I'd have to think about it some more.

I guess I didn't really understand what this meant

Bale hasn't come close to accomplishing what Owen did at 22.

That was more of a question of whether he'll be one of those players everyone agrees is great but always had injury problems.

I see a lot has happened in here since this afternoon. It's going to be hard for me to participate in this debate because I admittedly have an irrational amount of love for Bale, but you can't be serious with one ai.

I'd love for you to crank out 10 players in our league that you would take in your first XI ahead of him. I won't even ask for 15.

There's probably 1 or 2 players in the EPL that if you take away Bale and add them to my squad, that we would actually be a better club. Hell 'Arry even said today that the only clubs in the world that would be able to afford him are Barca, Real, and Citeh. Since 'Arry has given him license to go on walkabout and play literally anywhere on the pitch following the ball this last month he has even ratcheted that value up more to the point where he has been described as unplayable.

I do think he is a victim of the "Tebow treatment" though. He gets propped up by the media in England to point where fans of the sport lash out over it and call him overrated.

Mata, Suarez (god i hope you are kidding with that one), Hart, Silva, Aguero, Van Persie, Modric, Vidic, Rooney, Nani

I wouldn't swap any of those not struck through straight up except Kun

I didnt ask if you'd swap any of those players for Bale. (but if you want to knock my Suarez inclusion, I'll just say that you're dumb for wanting Bale over Silva)

But if I'm starting a new team and can pick anybody I want, Bale would probably not be in my top 10. He's top 10 in form this season but I thought we were discussing something else.

I'm sensing some mad right there.

Bale would instantly be the best player on your team by a mile. You might even have an outside shot at a Europa league spot if he was in red.

Saying "better players in the premier league" is open ended enough to include anyone above average in the premier league. So that way, when I respond to such a generic troll bait, you can switch the topic to Suarez's worth as a player.

I guess I'm finished with this topic. Haters gonna hate.

But I know you wish he was on your team in the end, whether you want to call him overrated or not.

But, even you can admit Bale didn't deserve it. And I LOVE HIS GAME.
