This poll at the end of the article needs some serious skewing. Who the fuck would draft Aaron Rodgers over Rivers in fantasy (I do not care if you could get A-Rod a round later either - GB is going to be worse this year than last). Rivers was amazing last year.

Haha - I took Tom Brady in the 1st round and Rivers in the 16th round last year. Would have won my league if my WR's hadn't been complete shit (TJH, Cotchery, and Chambers)

I too was like WTF at first.

But keep in mind this is fantasy, and GB has a terrible running game, so Rogers throws more than Rivers and could get more yards. Plus they play the Lions twice a year.

I would still take Rivers in a second, but it's not the slaughter it looks like or would be in a real game.

yeah i suppose

rivers is arguably a top 5 NFL qb (didnt he lead the league in TDs last year??) behind brady and manning and probably brees but you're right, fantasy-wise, ASSUMING LT IS HEALTHY he might not be as good of an option

^ He led the league in TD's (actually tied with Brees), QB rating (by 10 points), 1st down %, and Yards per attempt.

And didn't make the pro bowl

Check out

http://www.oneseason.com. Get $10 for creating an account. Trade Sports players like the stock market. Philip Rivers is currently one of the lowest valued players based on the fantasy ratio which shows the stats compared to the market value of each player. He also has very few shares outstanding so you can own a substantial amount of him for very few dollars. The site is 9 months old or so and they are working on building it out.

For further information about the site, check out oneseasonnation.com if you have questions about the site you can get all the information you need there.

I just got into it recently as well. Its very addicting and will only get more so as more of my favorite players get introduced to the market.

Definitely will be trying to get RVRS and keep him in the Wolfpack family.

Rodgers plays in a pass-first offense, and threw for a ton of yards last season. Rivers is in a run-first offense that was forced to pass due to a shitty defense and LTs injuries. With Merriman and LT healthy, Rivers' # of attempts, and correspondingly his yards and TDs are both likely to go down this season. Rodgers is certainly a justifiable pick if you expect him to improve as he should.

He tosses floaters to his huge receivers in coverage because they're not fucking fast enough to get open on their own. If he waited, he would die. Also, throwing to single coverage in the NFL isn't considered "blindly throwing" last time I checked. Receiver always has the advantage.

I think anyone who refers to receivers as gigantic catchers can immediately be ignored.

I don't know, I think this is the nail in the coffin. We can now conclude that Rivers is a joke as a QB and has just been fortunate enough to be surrounded by people who can make him look good for the last several years.

I'm not talking shit to jaybee or anyone else in the thread, I'm preemptively talking shit to all the haters that this is going to spawn

we'll probably hear about this on Around the Horn and PTI this evening. Hell, its one of the cover stories on yahoo.com right now. The whole article ridicules Philip:

Quote :
"A high school kid? Really, Philip? That's totally not brahsome.

Shoot, at least LeBron got dunked on by an NCAA basketball player. This kid -- Will Nunn is it? -- probably had to go home after the competition to practice vocabulary words for the SAT before taking the head cheerleader out for an early dinner at Applebee's.

It should also be noted that unlike the old NFL quarterbacks challenges, the targets that Rivers threw at were stationary, making the tires like most of the receivers Rivers has thrown to over the years. "

This kid's going to break the single season QB rating record and the single season touchdown record.

If they had him this past year the chargers would have been #1 all of the QB stats rather than just most of them.

Marmalard was a douchey character in Animal House. Deadspin named Rivers "Marmalard" after they decided that he was a douchebag. KSK ran with the nickname.
