They beat FSU. Duh.

But actually, they didn't go up. They fell from 14 to 21.

yeah, but the way our team rebounded by that loss was amazing. Got to look at the positives. Rival games are never as bad of losses to equivalent skill teams that aren't rivalry games

Updated charts for this week appear below. I switched the groupings. It's now NCSU-Duke and UNC-Wake because Wake is tanking so badly that I had to change the axis scale to that of UNC.

I wish these people would rank the teams as what they really should be. Instead they pick a preseason number to give each team, then move them up if they win or down if they lose. For those graphs to move up and down so much from week to week is definately not evident of how good the teams really are. Rankings are such crap and so biased.

Good job on the graphs tho.. I appreciate them

I posted that ^ and then found this:

Quote :
"It seems to me the pollsters are still clinging to the pecking order they established in November, so much so that a team that started the season unranked (Ohio State) still can't eclipse a team that started in the top 10 (Louisville) even if both have similar resumes. Considering the teams have now played as many as 16 games in some cases, the AP and Coaches' polls have got to be the slowest-reacting organizations since FEMA.

this weeks poll should be interesting. It should give the pollsters a chance to shake this stuff up and make it more realistic, but we know that won't happen.

i don't know if anyone saw this on the espn insider blogs from Andy Katz (from the 17th)...i just ran into it:

Quote :
" OK, I've ripped on the polls long enough, but this is getting ridiculous. I'd like someone to explain how West Virginia, undefeated in the Big East, including a win at Villanova, can be ranked No. 17 in the coaches' poll (and No. 12 in the AP). West Virginia is playing like a top-10 team now. That's what the poll is supposed to be about, a snapshot of the week, not what could be in March. The other befuddling ranking is for N.C. State. The Wolfpack are making a strong case for being the second-best team in the ACC, yet they are No. 14 in both polls? Talk to any coach in either league and they'll tell you that West Virginia and N.C. State are playing like top-10 teams -- now.

^ That’s basically what I was alluding to earlier in my post. These polls a really b.s. and should even come out until at least 3 or 4 weeks within the regular season. While they might not paint as accurate a picture as what starting in closer to the end of December would, it is definitely better than basing poll spots on a preseason poll that is built on nothing but assumption.

how the fuck did they stay in the polls??? These are the worst rankings ive ever seen just bc of that. I also thought Pitt shouldve fell more and we shouldve gone up at least a spot. But come on, UNC lost at UVA and barely beat FSU. If we did that we wouldnt even recieve votes

[Edited on January 23, 2006 at 2:12 PM. Reason : The UNC bias is pathetic.]

but are you surprised, it will take back to back losses within the poll voting week for them to knock UNC out and even then they would be one vote out of the polls.
