"so you think they are intentionally making it bad so people will realize that a single payer system is the solution? really? you think that is actually their intention, you think they actually want this to be bad?"

Actually, that can only be what the Democrats intended when they set up the ACA. Are they tanking healthcare.gov too? I doubt it. But the ultimate purpose of the ACA can only be to destroy private insurance, because everything it does essentially leads to that. You can't force insurance to behave like a fucked up group savings plan and expect things to turn out rosy.

" it's just my opinion, but i would think the best way to understand what's going to happen would be to look at past situations in states or other countries or our own country when we have implemented similar plans."

You mean like Massachusetts, where premiums skyrocketed and people were still using the emergency rooms for routine doctor's visits?

The goal should be to destroy for profit health insurance.

Someone pointed out that health "insurance" isn't really insurance. Health care in modern society is something that practically everyone will need, it's not something only a few people will really use (like car insuramce). Healthcare reforms goal is to make sure there's enough money to cover sick peoples ailments in our society, and it doesn't care where this comes from.

but that's not even what he is claiming, he is claiming that ACA was intentionally setup to harm people so they would get so angry that they wanted a single payer system.

nothing has been shown to support that.

you realize people will be harmed if private health insurance is destroyed right?

If the end game is not single payer then what was it? they obviously were not trying to make the system better for over 90% of the people

so you've changed your claim now because you realized how ridiculous it was?

and why is a single payer system the obvious conclusion of killing private health insurance? 1) its not the only alternate system and 2) Private Health insurance still exists in singly payer systems and works basically the same way.

obamacare is ripping the middle class a new one. people say that obama is the savior (we all know that's jesus christ almighty) but he is really screwing the next generation out of their heritage as children of productivity.

Quote :
"HealthCare.gov: How political fear was pitted against technical needs

They were running the biggest start-up in the world, and they didn’t have anyone who had run a start-up, or even run a business,” said David Cutler, a Harvard professor and health adviser to Obama’s 2008 campaign, who was not the individual who provided the memo to The Washington Post but confirmed he was the author. “It’s very hard to think of a situation where the people best at getting legislation passed are best at implementing it. They are a different set of skills.”

Based on interviews with more than two dozen current and former administration officials and outsiders who worked alongside them, the project was hampered by the White House’s political sensitivity to Republican hatred of the law — sensitivity so intense that the president’s aides ordered that some work be slowed down or remain secret for fear of feeding the opposition. Inside the Department of Health and Human Services’ Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, the main agency responsible for the exchanges, there was no single administrator whose full-time job was to manage the project. Republicans also made clear they would block funding, while some outside IT companies that were hired to build the Web site, HealthCare.gov, performed poorly."

also the email mentioned something about "it may take a few minutes for the page to load" which was one of the reasons i didnt try again

"Putting things in perspective:
March 21st 2010 to October 1 2013 is 3 years, 6 months, 10 days.
December 7, 1941 to May 8, 1945 is 3 years, 5 months, 1 day.

What this means is that in the time we were attacked at Pearl Harbor to the day Germany surrendered is not enough time for this progressive federal government to build a working webpage. Mobilization of millions, building tens of thousands of tanks, planes, jeeps, subs, cruisers, destroyers, torpedoes, millions upon millions of guns, bombs, ammo, etc. Turning the tide in North Africa, Invading Italy, D-Day, Battle of the Bulge, Race to Berlin - all while we were also fighting the Japanese in the Pacific!! And in that amount of time - this administration can't build a working webpage."

it helped that both houses of Congress were strongly filled with the same party as the President

It was built on the back of the infrastructure paid for by Congress and the insurers themselves.

welp I just found out that if your state expanded Medicaid and you make between 100% and 138% of poverty, you're not eligible for a subsidy on the exchange: https://www.healthcare.gov/do-i-qualify-for-medicaid/#question=what-if-im-eligible-for-medicaid-but-would-rather-buy-a-plan-in-the-marketplace

I didn't want a plan that would get pulled out from under me by state-court challenges, but I guess I'm going to Medicaid anyway

if this guy knows what he is talking about then the whole website needs to be taken down until they can fix the security flaws

Quote :
"When you develop a website, you develop it with security in mind. And it doesn't appear to have happened this time," said David Kennedy, a so-called "white hat" hacker who tests online security by breaching websites. He testified on Capitol Hill about the flaws of HealthCare.gov last week.

"It's really hard to go back and fix the security around it because security wasn't built into it," said Kennedy, chief executive of TrustedSec. "We're talking multiple months to over a year to at least address some of the critical-to-high exposures on the website itself." "

I love all the blind supporters of this disaster. Don't blame the administration, blame the people they hired to build the website. Fuck that, this administration is never accountable for anything. No one at the top ever gets any blame for any of the numerous scandals and failures.

Millons wasted on website designed to facilitate a new health care plan designed to help ~10% of the population. Would have been cheaper to just send cash directly to those people. Even if the website worked, the law is still horribly flawed. We are caught up complaining about the website when the law as a whole should be repealed.

Got a notice in the mail from BCBS saying my current plan will now extend into 2014 since the website is so fucked up. Yaaaay! Get to keep my current affordable healthcare for a little longer until the Affordable Healthcare Act forces my healthcare to no longer be affordable.

BCBSNC also sent me a letter, I get to keep my old plan, and I get to pay an extra $60 per month in premiums. Better than the extra $120 per month for an aca plan.

We're having trouble getting plan information. Try again. If you keep getting this message, log out and log back in after 30 minutes. If that doesn't work, call the Marketplace Call Center at 1-800-318-2596. TTY users should call 1-855-889-4325.

If the government was too inept to build a functioning website they could have just let the insurance company websites handle applications, then whoever figured it out first would be making money.

You can still apply for health insurance via the insurers' own websites, you just can't get a Federal subsidy that way.
