We did this (light grey wall with darker grey heavy curtain). We only did the width of the doors because the wall is really wide and that would have looked crazy is we went the whole width of the wall.

not sure why I'm posting it here, but I thought some ladies might appreciate it more than the standard male troll out there.

warning: wordz.

Quote :
""Moving on is not like a birthday, you can’t count down the hours ‘til it arrives and you can’t mark it on a calendar and you can’t call up your friends to help you celebrate. You can’t plan for it and you can’t conclude it by blowing out a candle. When moving on happens there will be no announcements, no notifications, no congratulations. There will be no parade; only you will know. Moving on is like aging that way, if aging happened backward. If the passing of days made you new and young, if your condition only had room to improve. Instead of a throbbing pain in your right knee forcefully, increasingly making its presence known, first with a whisper and then with a mumble and then with a shout, ‘til you can’t move, ‘til you can’t walk; moving on is gradual like that except when it’s over, you can walk just fine. You can run, even.

Moving on is like this: one day you forget the taste. The next, you forget the smell. Then the touch. Then the laugh. Then the smile. Then the jokes. Then the eyes, the hair, the hands, the feet. You forget the socks. You forget the fingers, the toes, the sex. You forget the pulses, the beats, the rhythms and how you sometimes felt like they all belonged to you. You forget the words; finally, you forget the voice that spoke them. Moving on is like one day, you’re walking or reading or drinking the sun and one of those footprints, one of those artifacts will creep into your consciousness, “already seen,” the French call this, déjà vu, and you won’t know where it belongs or how it got there. All it takes is a familiar laugh, a recognizable word and you are transported to who knows where. You are a confused paleontologist now, scrambling to make sense of things left behind, trying to reunite the right dinosaur with the right bones. The scar from his burst appendix goes here, the part of his leg that doesn’t grow hair belongs there, I think this is his morning breath but maybe it belongs to someone who came before him; some other ghost, some other relic. His taste is an aftertaste now, his crow’s feet a souvenir with no place to call home. That’s what moving on is like.

Moving on is not like beginning a new chapter, it’s like beginning a new book — with each turned page, the last story you read fades into the background. A fairy tale that becomes just another book on a shelf; folded corners and underlined words the only reminder of how you used to touch and hold and love it. Moving on is when you begin to forget the intricacies of a character you knew intimately, you forget what he did for a living and the way he prepared grilled cheese and the nickname he had for his first girlfriend. You forget how he lost his virginity, you forget his middle name.

Moving on is waking up without a sour feeling in your stomach, looking at a familiar menu and ordering something different, taking the direct route to a destination and not the one that crosses a path you once set in stone. Moving on is when you think about him and don’t punish yourself for it, when he begins to evoke more of a scientific response than an emotional one, like “This is a 6’0” blonde-haired person who exists,” and not “This is a person I wish I’d never met; this is a person who has made me less of one.” Moving on is not to destroy or to combust or to set ablaze, it is simply to move, to advance through space and time, to leave behind the familiar dull of heartbreak for the new, the unknown, the strange. Moving on is a bird flying south for the winter who decides maybe the warmth isn’t so bad, who decides maybe he’ll stay there for awhile; moving on is like freedom, is what moving on is like.""

Beethoven86 I had a feeling it looks as flattering in real life as it does on the hanger. Glad to know someone on here has actual experience with the dress. Which makes it harder to say no

OMG, I LOVE Cass' dress. WOW! So sophisticated.

BTW, Banana Republic has an awesome sale on already discounted sale items. I got $300 bucks worth of biz attire there yesterday for just $80! And I had a gift card from Christmas, so it was like big-kid Christmas! They have some gorgeous knee-length business skirts.

Also, I like the dress Katy posted, but would not buy it. Patterned dresses are pretty, but I get sick of them way too quickly. Or they look dated way too quickly. Burberry is an exception.

That's cute! It's appropriate depending on your job. And if you pair it with thick tights.

But if you have a conservative office, go a little longer.

I would say no. Not work appropriate length. Doesn't have to go to the knee, but for a conference, I think that's a bit short. And I'm of the opinion that tights do not make an inappropriate work dress appropriate. And a higher waist doesn't make it more appropriate either.

The thing with a pic on a model is that you really have to consider the total length of the skirt and where it would fall on your leg. If you're 5'3", then it would come closer to your knee and be just a bit more professional. If you're 6'2", it'll be a mini.

For most "professional" settings, you don't want a skirt to be much more than 2" above the knee ... unless you work in an ad agency or a similarly edgy environment.

And Beethoven is correct. Tights won't help much. But, I'm of the opinion that if you're showing 2" above the knee, then the look will probably be fine with tights. Any more, and it's inappropriate.

So I need to find some shoes to go with this dress. They need to be silver(ish), but other than that there aren't really any limitations.

I thought these would be cute, but I could really use some advice from people with an actual sense of style

You can get it at DSW, Rack Room, Belk, Macy's, Stein Mart

They're Nina....and they're cute, just too froo froo for the dress

I've tried them on a few times in black actually

I have the same experience with VS clothing. Beautiful pants, but hems fall out quickly. The shirts are cheap material. Look more like club wear. Love the bikinis tho!

I used to order a LOT of VS clothing, and occasionally they were great, but more often than not they fell apart quickly. Most of the time I could fix them myself, but it's annoying to pay that much for cheap quality. (The better quality things have been a white sweater-dress and some plain long sleeve tees.)

about the shoes, thanks for the tips ladies! srsly- much appreciated. One of the other bridesmaids threw out these as an option:

I think they are adorable, but would they be too much for that dress? (Similar to the first pair I posted?)

those are fun! i like the beading on the front.

soooo i got my Dr Bronner's 18-in-1 soap, conditioning rinse, and leave in conditioner yesterday. my hair feels really clean. i used all three products but i think going forward if i'm shampooing then i'll just use the leave in conditioner and if i'm not shampooing i'll do the conditioning rinse. my hair feels good today but i feel like if i did the conditioning rinse and the leave in conditioner continuously, then my hair could start to feel waxy.

also i got the peppermint one and i love peppermint so i didn't mind but it's really strong smelling so i would suggest getting one of the other smells if peppermint isn't your thing.

i also got the chapstick - it feels good. i'm hoping going sulfite free will help with the itchiness/redness i've been experiencing on my head from my sulfite allergy.

Something I'm eating is giving me some sort of allergic reaction or something. Can't figure it out. It isn't consistent at all, but I haven't been writing stuff down, just kind of thinking about what I ate that day. Bloating, like 6 pounds of weight difference in 12 hours, and sometimes I get this scratchy feeling down my throat, my lips go numb, and my tongue burns.

I've been thinking about trying out a new foundation. I have oily skin, the occasional blemish, a few acne scars, and super pale skin. I've leaning towards one of the following:

Clinique

MUFE

Hourglass

CoverFX

Online reviews are good for each one but I have real life tdub opinions. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Have you tried powder foundation? I use the FX powder, and it is really the best I've ever used. I haven't used any you listed though, so I can't help with that.

I use a photo finish primer under the foundation, and that cuts back on any shiny/oily. You can always go get a few samples from different counters, so you don't pay a lot for something that doesn't work.

The thing is...DO NOT BUY before you're sure

Most good stores will sample the foundation out to you to try for a week or so. I know they did that at Saks.

Try a sample and make sure it works before you go and spend $50 on it!

yeah, i definitely need to get back in the habit of wearing primer.

I live in the great awesomeness that is Roxboro, so my shopping options are wal-mart and peebles (what the hell is a peeble anyways?), but I work in Durham. Is driving to Raleigh to visit Saks worth it or should I just hit up Southpoint mall?

You should be fine at Nordstrom. A lot of the department stores don't want to pay for the packaging to sample out cosmetics (if that makes sense) so you will normally find it in nice stores, or basic department stores located in nicer locations.
