10K

I'm just buying all the way down, so I don't miss the bottom.

I've been eyeing 8,500ish as bottom for a while.

Freddie and Fannie won't make it through the weekend in their current state.

That's a heck of a sell-off. Even at my worst I was never that bearish. I think that would undo all of the above trend performance since the 87 crash.

If that happens we would have to start rethinking the superiority of equities vs. bonds

I predicted we'd be below 10,000 by this fall several months ago.

i stand by that prediction.

Seems like there are lots of shorting opportunities out there I have been doing research and writing down my picks and tracking them, unfortunately I an left with the situation of taking some losses and reinvesting elsewhere hoping I can recoup some but also maybe losing more, or holding long and praying this things fixes itself. Tough calls but my last 2 picks both flipped over a dollar in a day so I could have recouped some of my losses pretty quick.

If you look at the historic correlation between natural gas and oil there is an 8x multiplier.

Right now nat gas is hovering around $12 and oil is at $144 for a multiplier of 12x.

I'm not saying nat gas is heading to $18 but I am saying 20% of my retirement account is in a natural gas ETF.

Bunker down. Right now the place to be is convertible securities, leveraged funds, alt. energy, and aluminum.

I wouldn't buy a bank or financial sector stock with your money.

Brazil is the next China, get in now and ride the momentum.

Healthcare is primed to take off but you have to wait and see if the negro gets elected before you jump into a sector that can get dominated by awful gov't policy.

Looks like I picked a damn good time to buy ESLR yesterday!

Quote :
"Shares of Evergreen Solar Inc. were halted in premarket trading after the Marlboro, Mass.-based solar power products manufacturer said it has signed a new, long-term contract with IBC Solar AG valued at about $1.2 billion.

The contract extends through 2013 and brings Evergreen's total contractual backlog to nearly $3 billion with five customers.

Evergreen shares closed Monday at $9.16, down about 46% year-to-date."

Already up over a dollar before they halted it

Another one to watch-- RAH.

Ralcorp is a maker of private label food (store brand). I would think that with consumers being stretched thin one obvious place that they could save $$ is in this area. I understand the production cost are increasing for them but think that they have more upside than a name brand like GIS. So I would expect some upside surprise.

i have some sort of mystical connection with BIDU

RIMM looks not so terrible to start tip-toeing into

right now it feels like being long most stocks is being short oil -- when we see that trend stop, its safe for the average person to get back in the water.

Picked up some WB @ $8.60 today and (luckily) just sold at $10. Probably a stupid move really, but it worked out this time.

[Edited on July 15, 2008 at 1:55 PM. Reason : also, picked up some HK, GS, CMG and V yesteday and more HK, JEC, PQ, RIG and AGU today.]
