Reasons to hate the market, stocks that bounce off your stop price yet never go under

Holy shit. I sold all of my PCLN at $30 about 2 years ago.

I just noticed that it topped $140 last month.

whats your reasoning behind buying GM now? just curious...is it solely because it is beaten up? or do you think they have a strategic advantage?

risk reward ratio seems to be skewed away from reward

Well...they will be shutting down more plants, laying off more people and prob selling a few brands. I just can't think that it will drop much more, could be way wrong of course.

Indymac is wrapping up its implosion today.

No longer "well capitalized", forced to exit the mortgage business, laying off half their employees, has been unable to raise any funds.

Stock is down 40% today to $0.39 (from a high last year of $31)

WB, FTBC, and KEY are all probably looking in the mirror right now.

Weakened outlook on earnings, CEO resigning, the general fail of the market right now anyways, seems logical to me

For one, did it really make sense that virtualization software was ready for prime time, at least to the level VMW was being valued at? I also remember reading on ars (or somewhere) about some other big time player bringing their virtualization software to market (was it MS? having a hard time finding the report now), and I remember thinking VMW wasn't going to be a darling for too much longer.

I think that Tyson foods is a good stock to buy right now, as is Coca-Cola

COKE is on a 5 year low, and face it; nobody is going to quit drinking coke so its bound to rebound

and Tyson is a good buy right now because it's in the low and has consistently for the last 5 years almost doubled in september when grocery stores start stocking for Thanksgiving

This logic depends on coke being fairly valued in the first place.

Suppose Coke was surging to new heights, would you automatically think that with as much market penetration as they already have, a surge would have to be followed by a crash?

FRE down 70% in 3 weeks. FNM down 50% in 3 weeks. This is going to have some repercussions.

Cisco is a great buy, but it can go lower, but it has given back 20%, so yea it's a good buy right now. You're not going ot make any money overnight, but I think it's a great investment. I think someone on here works at Cisco. The thing is that whenever John Chambers speaks, he usually paints a gloom and doom picture of the economy and his sales, which is exactly what happened yesterday. Last time he did it, it did the same thing, and shot up over 27 over the next couple of months.

^ if anyone has been investinf in Freddie or Fannie over the last few months, you may have a deathwish.

I don't think Chambers is all doom and gloom. He's just being honest. He said recently that things aren't as bad as the market thinks.

The thing is, he's been talking about stepping down and having the CEO position run by commitee. That's kind of scary. I would not pile into CSCO without doing more research.

Today is feeling a lot like yesterday, nice good solid run in the morning, then after about 11 or 12 a nice slow steady decline giving all the gains back and end up down for the day. Hoping this last 45 min can hold onto a little green at least.
