From the latest PI article:
Quote :
"both Duke and State are awaiting his final decision and both feel like it’s coming soon."

I've heard that the Amile decision will come in the next week for the past month.

Congratulations, Amile.

I'm happy you made what you felt was the right choice for you.

I wish you had decided to Run with the Pack though.

Either Run with us, or get run by us.

Maryland get Sam Cassell's kid. He scored 28 against Warren's HS team this season.

What they're losing: The Pack's three seniors, Alex Johnson, C.J. Williams and Kendall Smith, will be missed as they quickly bought into Mark Gottfried's system and played big roles in changing the basketball team's culture. If sophomore C.J. Leslie decides to throw his name into the NBA draft, the Pack would also be losing their leading scorer and second-leading rebounder.

What they're adding: Gottfried wasted no time in displaying his recruiting abilities to the NC State faithful by attracting one of the best recruiting classes in school history. Shooting guard Rodney Purvis (Raleigh, N.C./Upper Room Christian), small forward T.J. Warren (Durham, N.C./Brewster Academy) and point guard Tyler Lewis (Statesville, N.C./Oak Hill Academy) will each have a major impact on future NC State teams.

What it equals: NC State will have a group of young, talented perimeter players to continue to grow this program around, and signing three McDonald's All-Americans sends a strong signal to the rest of the ACC that the Pack plans to compete for ACC and national championships.

Two things I learned from that article

Tyler Lewis doesn't watch our games
Warren's dad played for NC State (Not sure how I missed that before)

Looking forward to having Tyler Lewis's pops at games. Should be entertaining. Word on the street is that he is the only person that has been banned for life from the Statesville YMCA.

It has been extremely quiet in the last week. I expected the Amile thread/chat to be exploding this week with info/rumors/predictions on scout.com....but its mostly crickets.

I was hoping he would get to the McDonalds game, and our 3 other recruits would help push it over the edge. I am less optimistic that that is going to have much to do with his decision. I still think we have a great chance, just not getting the same warm fuzzies I had a week ago.

Apparently Andrew Young "narrowed his list". I don't know who's on it though.

Also, here's a snippet from an ESPN interview with Tony Parker

Quote :
""I see what you're saying, Tony," Gibbs said. "You want to make sure they're going to use you the correct way, right?"

"Exactly," Parker said. "I really like Duke. I just can't honestly say that I'm 100 percent comfortable with a guard teaching me about the post. Coach [Steve] Wojciechowski is like 5-foot-6.""

Article on Andrew Young

Quote :
"Monterey Penisula College (CA) standout Andrew Young recently completed the 2011-2012 season by leading the state of California in scoring (22 points per game) and rebounding (14.2).

Monterey Penisula College (CA) power forward/center Andrew Young recently completed the 2011-2012 season by leading the state of California in scoring (22 points per game) and rebounding (14.2). He also shot a blistering 66% from the field and 75% at the free throw line.
According to head coach Blake Spiering, Young has now turned his attention to recruiting.
"Yes, the focus is now on recruiting," said coach Spiering. "He was at Texas A&M over the weekend. He will next go to Oregon on April 5th, and Andrew will schedule a visit to NC State as well. I believe he will take his visit to Raleigh the weekend after that, but it hasn't been officially scheduled yet. That trip is in the works though."
Young held dozens of scholarship offers before narrowing his list of schools down to a select few.
"Really those three I would say are out front," said coach Spiering. "You also have California and Vanderbilt involved, and he could potentially visit them as well, but I believe he might be ready to make a decision following the trip to NC State.
"I think the relationship with the coaching staffs and the style of play stands out at those three schools. He also respects the head coaches immensely. With him being a community college guy he needs to make sure he finds the right place to fit in and play right away and those are post-oriented, tough, physical teams that fit the way he plays. He is a very physical player and athlete, so he has what those programs are looking for."
NC State has been heavily involved since the fall, with assistant Rob Moxley heading up his recruitment. What does Young like about the Wolfpack?
"The offense at NC State is a great fit," said coach Spiering. "They use an old school offense that is really post-oriented and works inside-out. They do a lot of screening for the guards with high-post, low-post action... he also loves how physical they play.
"Another thing, he loves the guards with Brown and the shooter returning. They are a proven team that has tournament experience so there won't be any rebuilding. He has the chance to go in there and win. He loves the academics at NC State as well."

Young, who carries a 3.7+ GPA in the classroom, has yet to select a final major but could potentially choose Sports Psychology or Kinesiology.
"Academics are important. Out of those three schools, I would say he is very comfortable with Texas A&M and NC State in that regard. Oregon has good academics as well, but maybe not on the level as the other two.
"A&M and NC State are recruiting him the hardest and as of late Vanderbilt. He doesn't need that attention, but he likes to feel wanted. I think NC State and A&M are recruiting him with the focus of him being a priority, and he notices that. They know he'll fit in and help in some capacity."
Coach Spiering says that Young is heading into his official visits with an open mind. He didn't have a chance to unofficially visit all of the schools, so the trips will play a major role in his decision.
"I can't say he has a leader. He is sort of blind to the schools because he hasn't seen the campuses or had a chance to meet the players. Right now they all seem great, and he will probably love all the visits so it will be a tough decision.
"I do know distance won't be a factor. He is looking for a place where he can develop and give himself the best chance at reaching the next level."
"

Summary of Amile:

Safe bet: Go to Duke
Family's choice: Go to Duke
In his Heart: Go to NC State

Thus, its taking a long time. I think he is hoping that leslie will leave because it will make State a safer bet for him than it currently is ... and help him convince his family of that.

I'm hoping more for Young. This kid could come in and immediately play. He's already got the size and body to play now. He also can score and rebound. Amile needs to gain 50 lbs.

^^Says Lewis plays best when in free-flowing situations. Doesn't do so hot in sets, nor on defense.

Purvis had issues finishing, but got to the rim easily. May be some issues with effort.

Warren scored from many areas. Needs to be more vocal and bring effort on the defensive side of the ball.

Jefferson communicated well. Struggled with strength of opposition. Battled well, is a solid defensive presence.

"Tyler Lewis is out to prove you wrong. I mean, to be honest, I thought there might be a dip in his production when he transferred to Oak Hill…there wasn’t. I thought, he’s skilled, but now he’s against the most skilled kids in the country, he’ll place, but he won’t win the skills competition. I was wrong. Tyler Lewis is a world-beater and I think it’s time we all just sat back and enjoy the show. The questions about whether he can make it in the ACC should stop. The questions that he can one day be an NBA point guard, well, if you’re following the pattern, those should stop too. He’s going to be successful, get over it. Winners just win."
