Have any of you people been to the patent office? We have patent #43278654, 5 minute scoring drought.

We own that shit. It's not changing with a new coach.

i'm not giving up on the season, its still early, there's still a lot of games to be played...

...but if we go the NIT route, we'll have another championship banner to hang beside old spice & glen wilkes. mark it.

^ In other news, someone other than UNC football is about to go on probation

^^^When your AD openly discusses said year end reviews, that's not very good

This is ridiculous, that people are actually emailing our AD (credible) about this 4 acc games in... It's stupid shit like this that's going to make her stop answering her emails.

when's the last time a college coach in a major conference was fired mid-season based on team performance

Not a major conference school, but the only one I can think of is Benny Moss at UNC Wilmington

Edit: Wasn't Dennis Felton fired mid-season?

Edit 2: Yep. Google tells me Mark Gottfried also resigned mid-season

To: Debbie Yow
CC: Sidney Lowe
Subject: NC State Basketball

Debbie,

I am one of the most critical people you'll find in the Wolfpack Nation and given the irrationality surrounding our basketball program I feel the need to speak up.

I've watched every ACC basketball game I could get on television since 1988. I remember watching Corch and Monroe grind through 4OT's to beat Wake in 1989, CC Harrison single handedly beating UNC in 1997, and State crushing Duke in 2009.

Our fans need to grow up. Sidney was dealt a stacked deck. We lost Simmons (lottery pick), Bennerman, Bethel, Brackman, Evtimov prior to his first season. We lost an entire recruiting class in the interim head coaching search and had to scrape the bottom of the barrel the next three years for ANYONE to commit to playing for us.

Everything culminated last season. With one of the worst rosters the ACC has ever seen we managed to win 20 games and we were a legitimate threat to win both the ACC and NIT tournaments.

I was vocal about my disdain for Coach Lowe his second and third season when we underachieved. It takes a big man to admit he was wrong.

I was wrong. Coach Lowe clearly has us on track for success. We have eight sophomores and freshmen who are legitimate ACC talent. We have future recruits ready to run with the Pack.

We're going to be atop the ACC in two seasons:

PG: Harrow(jr), Lewis(fr)
SG: Brown(jr), _____(fr)
SF: Wood(sr), Harris(so)
PF: Howell(sr), Uchebo(so)
C: Painter(sr), Vandenburg(sr)

Experience and talent is how you win in major conference basketball. What's wrong with letting the guy who built that team be the one who leads it?

I'm sure you got to where you are in your career by making informed rational decisions. Look at the big picture, it's clear that Lowe can be competitive nationally and relevant locally.

Do the right thing.

^^ haha i sorta know benny moss personally. Hit him with a water balloon full of mayonnaise in '93 after he got out of the shower. perfect shot.

Dennis Felton was a well known cheater. Pretty sure everyone wanted us to hire him too during the coaching search. GREAT idea TWW!!!!

Remember when W.Ky had that guy who was going to go #1 in the draft overall? Marcus something... pretty sure he went undrafted

Do I even need to point out how retarded it is to excoriate people for judging Lowe before the season is up while at the same time suggesting we keep Lowe regardless of how the remainder of the season plays out.

^^Rebounding, Transition offense, turnovers, dunks, etc just this year...but I thought the last 2 years we were significantly better on defense (fundamentally and how hard we played) than we were the first 2.

This year we are worse at shit you would expect freshmen to be worse at...specifically Defense (we play hard but get caught out of position more...freshmen mistakes)....taking bad shots, poor decision making, etc.

Also, Tracy is fat and out of shape. Still playing ok but still. He's missing layups, not dunking as easily, and slow on O and D. Not his fault he got hurt. Nor Lowe's.

Still...need to evaluate at end of season. Until then, all I've been wanting is people to shut up.

^^I have been meaning to bring up something I noticed against Duke: Does anyone else see that Tracy is not getting very much air off his jumps AT ALL? It looked like Duke's bigs could just stand there with their arms up and swat a lot of his jump shots... Was this just me?

lol, that's very true. But he also claims that his knees are causing him zero pain at this point. could four weeks of taking it easy really ruin his jump like that, or do you think maybe it's psychological?

Those could both be true statements. I think he mentioned the zero pain thing after our last pre-acc game or something like that.

So, yeah, 85%. That makes sense.

also, for those who don't think Lowe makes changes at halftime:

Quote :
"In the Pack's four ACC games, NC State has started off slow, struggling from the field in the first 20 minutes of play. In those four games, NC State has shot just 31.5 percent from the field, while averaging 28.3 points.

But coming out of the break, the Pack has improved dramatically in the second half in its ACC games. In all four conference games, the Pack has shot better in the second half of each game and has scored more points. NC State has averaged 48.0 points in the second half of its ACC games, while shooting 54.3 percent from the field."

^perhaps his knees are causing zero pain, but b/c he's a little out of shape for resting so long, he's only playing 85% as well as he was before the injury.
