Alright, wont get to watch much football today, got 7 hours of volleyball then about 6 hours of poker...

UT - 20
Bama - 13

Hmmm, lets compare my very initial season estimate with whats really happened:

California Knoxville, Tenn. - very tough opener.. I call a very very close W (hahah, right on the W, thats about it

Air Force Knoxville, Tenn. - W (correct)
Florida Knoxville, Tenn. - L (correct)
Marshall (Homecoming) Knoxville, Tenn. - W (correct)
Memphis Memphis, Tenn. - W (correct)
Georgia Athens, Ga. - L (wrong, oh darn)
Alabama Knoxville, Tenn. - W (correct)
South Carolina Columbia, S.C. - another close one... L
LSU Knoxville, Tenn. - L
Arkansas Fayetteville, Ark. - W
Vanderbilt Nashville, Tenn. - W (this wont happen again, not with SuperCutler gone)
Kentucky Knoxville, Tenn. - W

8-4, some shitty fucking bowl (now thinking 10-2, losing to LSU but beating South Carolina, but still probably some second tier bowl )

Spurrier, for the most part, has had Fulmer's number (although not so much the last 4-5 times) so I originally called this one a loss... I am going to stick with that just so I dont lay the jinx on UT..

UT - 27
South Carolina - 30

no idea how this one will go... they should have spanked us last year at LSU with all the Katrina emotions and stuff and how horrible we were, but we pulled that one out. This year its at Knoxville, LSU is favored by 2. I had this down as a definite loss at the start of the season but LSU hasnt been playing up to their potential at all so far...

How do they get LSU as a -2 favorite?

I might have to get in on that. I like UT at home in this one.

I am not confident in this one at all. Even if Ainge does play, his mobility is gonna be limited and LSU has the most sacks in the SEC and also has a top 3 or 4 defense nationally. With the revenge factor also at play, I think LSU wins by 10.

Quote :
"KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Injured Tennessee quarterback Erik Ainge practiced more on Thursday, but coach Phillip Fulmer was vague about how much his starter would be able to play against No. 13 LSU on Saturday.

Ainge sprained his right ankle in last week's game at South Carolina and has been limited in practice. His backup, Jonathan Crompton, a redshirt freshman, has played sparingly so far this season but has been preparing to play if necessary.

The No. 8 Volunteers face one of the toughest defenses in Division I-A this weekend.

"Erik did everything today, practically everything. That's a real plus. That's much improved from yesterday. Still don't have any solid say on exactly what we're going to do, but I'd say it looks like he's going to be able to play," Fulmer said.

When asked to explain whether the decision is about Ainge starting or how much he will play, Fulmer said, "Just how we're going to do it. That's just kind of where we are. ... That's all I need to say about it."

Fulmer said a game plan could be decided Friday or before kickoff.

Crompton missed last season to heal from shoulder surgery. Ainge came out of spring practice ahead of Crompton on the depth chart. Crompton has played in four games this season, but only attempted passes against California and Memphis. He is 4-of-4 for 44 yards.

"Jonathan is talented (and) has done extremely well. He's ready to play. Either one that's out there I expect them to do the job and do well," Fulmer said.

"Obviously Jonathan ... against the No. 1 defense in the country, that's not exactly how you want to start your career. He'll certainly get some time. Erik being a little bit on the gimpy side, although I believe he'll be fine to play, that's not exactly the kind of defense you want to go against."

hell yeah, good game, much better than I thought it would be.

Russell played huge (literally) and Crompton was better than expected. That 4th and 8 was the play of the game, Tennessee's secondary didnt play that great all game and it really showed on that play.

Good win LSU

no, that was years later... and this isnt the 98 game with the Stoerner Stumble. This was just a really close game. And I forgot how fucking loaded that Tenn team was. Peyton, Leonard Little, Deon Grant, Al Wilson, Jamal Lewis, Marcus Nash, Terry Fair, Cedrick Wilson, Travis Henry, Shawn Bryson, Travis Stephens, Peerless, Raynoch, Darwin Walker, Chad Clifton, Eric Parker, David Martin, Jonathan Brown, Fread Weary, Shaun Ellis, etc... there were probablt 30-40 future NFLers on that team... just couldnt beating fucking Florida

sigh, just talked about how Peyton was a lock for the Heisman... fucking Charles The Sham Woodson

well, I'll be damned, I guess Tennessee has done a trick play at some point... throwback to Manning for a 20 yard gain. Had forgotten about that. Lets see, that was 1997, that means the next trick play will be around 2020

McFadden was a beast and Crompton is ok for a RS Freshman, but it was obvious tonight that he is FAR from Ainge

going from a losing season to probably 9 wins even with a ton of injuries, and two wins against top 10 teams and two plays away from beating Florida and LSU which would have made it 4 top 15 teams... I'll take it.

no idea what to think about this game... We SHOULD beat Vandy by double digits, but they always play up to Tennessee, and with Ainge not being 100%...

Vandy - 29

Gerald Jones By Greg Powers
Scout.com
Posted Nov 29, 2006

Tennessee’s 2007 recruiting efforts received a huge boost in the arm Tuesday night when Oklahoma City star Gerald Jones gave them an oral commitment to sign a Letter of Intent.

Scout.com four-star prospect Gerald Jones, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound athlete from Millwood High in Oklahoma City, Okla. decided to give a verbal pledge to Tennessee following a recent in-home visit.
Jones is rated as the No. 9 running back in the country by Scout.com. He instantly became one of the highest rated commitments in the 2007 Volunteer recruiting class that also includes standouts like Brent Vinson, Donald Langley, Darris Sawtelle, and B.J. Coleman.

He was considering offers from Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Texas Tech, Kansas State, Florida and Oklahoma State before selecting Tennessee.

Jones credits the atmosphere of the program and strong bond with former Oklahoma prep star Robert Meachum as the main reasons for his decision. He is also looking forward to playing in the ultra competitive Southeastern Conference.

“It was a great visit to Tennessee,” Jones reported to Scout.com when asked about his 11/3 official visit to Knoxville. “I have been high on Tennessee for a long time and I really liked the atmosphere while I was on my visit.”

So far this season from his quarterback position Jones has rushed for 1,202 yards and 11 scores and passed for 1,561 yards and 21 touchdowns leading his team to a state semifinal match-up this weekend.

Jones along with 79 other top national gridiron prep stars has been selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American

Brent Vinson, #6 WR, *****
Gerald Jones, #9 RB, ****
Darris Sawtelle, #14 OT, ****
