What about Painter's deadly hook shot #PAINTERBESHOOTIN

or TDT of the bench knocking down threes and getting put back dunks.

and nobody can stop Staats, he'll be Battling all game.

take 2 shots if an NC State player fouls out
take 3 shots for every 3 pointer Wood misses
take 3 shots for every 3 pointer any other NC State player makes

Take two shots for every layup Howell misses.

Remember that one time Kansas lost to Northern Iowa as a #1 seed?

That was pretty funny.

If you simply ask yourself some basic matchup questions, State does not seem to be overmatched in this game:

1. Best Shooter? Wood
2. Best Rebounder? Howell (arguable with Robinson)
3. Most Athletic Player? Leslie and Robinson tie
4. Best PG? Brown all around, Taylor is a better scorer
5. Bench? Painter and AJ are as good as the guys coming off KU's bench

Where Kansas beats us is that they are more athletic overall, have more experience, play better D consistently (especially on the interior), and they have a better coach (at least on paper).

We'll need to to play very well to win this game. It'll all come down to foul trouble and 3 pt shooting IMO.

As far as stats go, Robinson is a better rebounder. And a better scorer.

^ Howell can go toe to toe with Robinson rebounding. No one said shit about scoring. Robinson is clearly better than anyone on State as a scorer.

^^well, i said as stats go, and i know that doesn't necessarily mean who's "better", but thomas averages 13 rpg, howell only 9. that's a pretty big difference. but yeah, that definitely doesn't mean that howell won't be able to out rebound him this game.

On average, Kansas is about 9 points better than us per game.

We have our work cut out for us.

We played an injured UNC and UVA team.

We beat a good team, Georgetown.

We beat a decent team at home, Miami.

We beat an overmatched team, SDSU.

We beat a not good team, VT.

We beat a terrible team, BC.

We're on a good run. But people thought we were on a great run when we were 7-3 in the ACC. Then Duke, FSU, UNC, and Clemson reminded everyone where we actually are.

We're much better than we were 10 games ago. That is true. But Kansas is still on a totally different level than us. We have a chance, but it's a longshot. We need to play great and we need to get a little lucky. We can't make mistakes like we're prone to make.

We can do it, but let's not get too overly excited and then crushed if we lose to a far superior team.

precisely, outside of a 30 point blowout, everyone should be very happy with this season win or lose

none of that really matters. it's one game. our players think we can and will win, that makes a difference. their heads are in the right place, i think we have a good shot. maybe about a 40% or so chance to win the game, just ballparking it.

i think if we beat kansas, we're in the final 4. no way marshall is playing for unc, and if he does he won't be effective. if we get by kansas, we will beat a hobbled UNC or Ohio.

^yes, that too. unless we come out with a showing a la @UNC or FSU/GT at home, i'm happy.

Tyshawn Taylor is what scares me.

Anyone ever see that documentary (currently on Netflix) I think called "Where the Streets End" about St. Anthony's high school basketball program/coach? Taylor is in it, seems to have a lot of heart and learned from the best and played at the highest level in high school.

Any chance that our up tempo can fuck them over? I remember that Robinson was getting worn out during the Purdue game and had to sit out, but then again he didn't have a 5 day rest for that match.

just watched some of the Detroit Kansas game. Seems like they drive to the basket to score (dish or dunk) they didn't kick it out for 3 threes hardly. What worried me was they got a Detroit called for a lot of quick fouls early.

they did turn the ball over a lot.

once dude fouled out with 11 min left

Tyshawn Taylor is a total stud. We don't have an advantage at PG. He shot 53% FG and 41.6% 3's.

And he shoots a lot. Tons of assists and draws a lot of fouls. The guy is good. ZoBo has trouble defending quick point guards too.

Also Robinson is head and shoulders a better rebounder than Howell. Withey is a better shot blocker than Leslie. He's also a stud FT shooter and he gets fouled a lot. Kinda like Leslie, except he can make them.

I'd take Releford, Johnson, and Teahen over CJW, Wood, and Painter/Johnson too.

We're really not better than them individually or collectively.

This is going to be a TOUGH game for us.

I only saw really early season Kansas games and they weren't impressive. I thought they were vastly overrated for their ranking. The problem is it appears that they kinda came together during the Big 12 regular season. I'm surprised they didn't win the conference tourney. As others have stated though, sans a complete meltdown, very successful season. But I really don't think this team can meltdown like that though.

face is right, wattched 6 kansas games

TT is money and he nails the three at over 40%, let him drive and he'll still score

trob is a BEAST and even if by some miracle its a wash between him and leslie, you still have the nations leading shot blocker in withey (who excels in games like this)

I will not be satisfied until there is a rematch with the tarholes and we win! this should be motivation for the players.

they will come out beastin', there will be so many blocked shots by CJ Leslie you will think it's a volleyball game. heck, scott wood will be on fire even make a dunk and Zo will be doing this all game:

so screw that 7-footer!

We hongry, let's do this! if all else fails, there's the drinking game,

Quote :
"Kansas is just as good as Georgetown was defensively (#5 overall), but they are better offensively (#16). Practically every player on their team is efficient on offense."

Okay, we get it, they are about the same team, except flip-flopped. I'm sure Sir Rich has something to say about their offense. And Scott Wood is the most underrated defensive player in the world. I'd can't wait to see their faces when Scott packs their shot from over their backs.

Quote :
"They play at a medium pace and specialize in fg% and fg% defense. They are above average at rebounding on both ends, though not particularly good at limiting or forcing turnovers.

They are one of the best in the country at scoring inside and limiting inside scoring. Their weakness is hitting threes and guarding the perimeter."

I smell bleacher report all over this one. Best in the country at limiting inside scoring? Obviously they have not seen the gum-chewing awesomeness of CJ Leslie power his way to the basket and dunk on their faces. Isn't it funny that their weakness at defending is always something they are terrible at, and they are good at defending at what they are good at making? Smells like they are all one trick ponies to me. Epic upset is on the horizon I tell you.

Quote :
"As you might imagine, they have a lot of size. Their wings in particular are big, similar to UNC who always gives us trouble. However, as I noted before this hasn't helped them defend the 3 (unlike UNC).

For the most part they play the same 4 guys the entire game and Withey/Teahen play about half the game each. Very few minutes for anyone else.

Thomas Robinson is an elite rebounder and it will be interesting to see if Howell can hold his own on the glass. Jeff Withey is the best shot blocker in the country not named Anthony Davis, so it'll be key that we can still score relatively efficiently down low particularly with CJ Leslie. Tyshawn Taylor is a total scoring machine and both he and Elijah Johnson are their playmakers."

O-VER-RAT-TED CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP
O-VER-RAT-TED CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP
Okay, let me get this straight, Thomas Jefferson is an elite rebounder? That's incredulous and it baffles my mind as to how your could mention Howell in a question as to whether or not he could hold his own on the glass. First of all, the glass is not what the playing surface is called, that is the paint. And the answer to your question is yes, he can hold his on in the paint. Anthony Davis you say? Okay I don't discuss people with uni brows so I'ma let that one pass. They are not that good, everyone on their team is not freaking Michael Jordan. I say we put in Kendall Marshall and have him knee Tyshawn Taylor and Thomas Jefferson in the face, and then perform the people's elbow on them.

Quote :
"Robinson, Taylor, and Withey all draw a ton of fouls, so it will be key for us not to commit lazy fouls as they will draw plenty on their own.

We're 7.5 point underdogs and slightly more than 3:1 underdogs to win the game outright. This is going to be REALLY tough. It sucks that Purdue blew it against them as we are a lot closer to their level."

WRONG. Lazy fouls? Don't you mean completely necessary reach ins, over the backs and let us not forget the flagrants Scott Wood will committ? They don't draw fouls, we just play like we are playing prison ball with the shanking of people and what not.

Quote :
"We're playing better lately and Kansas looked shaky against Purdue. This is more of a matter of how Kansas plays really. If they play their A game, we can't hang. But if they play their B game and we play well we've got a chance to make our first elite 8 visit since 1865 when Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appottomax.

Little known fact: Lee and Ulysses S. Grant shared a beer while watching a slight tape delay of NC State defeat Louisburg college on grainy video that was only slightly better quality than the JVC camcorder footage of CJ Leslie hitting the game winning shot in 2011 against St. Bonaventure."

Alright I'm just going to call bs on this. No way I'm believing this epic crap. Why bring my main man Robbie into this fray?

Alright I'm done. Peace out bros.

Talking with Tony Haynes tonight, he said the two keys to the game were gonna be how the bigs match up for the two teams and if we can control the tempo, cause they won't be able to run with us. On a funny note, the team's plane was broke down before it left and delayed their flight by several hours. Kinda funny how coach Gott was saying "we got hotel rooms waiting for us, we got a plane waiting to take us to St. Louis," but the team ended up waiting on the plane.
