Kirk literally struggled just running and dribbling at the same time last year. He should really focus on defense and rebounding and find a niche for himself to get into the lineup sooner rather than later.

Our team won't be ranked very high going into the season, entirely too many question marks. But we have a team with a high ceiling if everyone plays up to their hype/potential, so I'm fine with a preseason #25 or honorable mention. The goal should be to gel and hit our stride by the time the ACC starts, we're certainly going to lose some head-scratchers early.

I could see the Italy trip cooling some expectations, we're going to struggle if they keep to their word and hold Dennis Smith Jr. out.

We have so many players that we've never seen play a minute (Henderson five or so minutes..I know about WV) that will have huge roles that this perhaps our most unpredictable team ever. Unless you count crushing our souls as predictability.

this will be an interesting season. all of our hopes and dreams essentially hang on a group of freshmen and people who haven't played in a while.

Roster (my bad if I mixed up some people)

1 - DSJr / Johnson - freshmen
2 - Henderson (sat last 2 years), Dorn (sat last year), Mav (hopefully big improvement)
3 - Kirk (pretty much sat last year), Hicks (freshman)
4 - Abu / Anya (rotate to 5) - only really experienced players. Given up on Anya. Hopefully Abu tries this year.
5 - Yurtseven - freshman

Freeman probably redshirts. No idea where Newman fits in.

definitely a lot of potential to go either way.

^assuming you're talking about Spencer Newman...i don't think he'll get much PT this year. he's a walk on. and while he's a preferred walk-on and folks are optimistic that he can contribute at some point, i don't think it would be reasonable to expect that to be the case this year.

Kirk will get about as minutes this year as he did last year. Mav will get a ton of minutes at the three (so will Dorn).

I would imagine our starting 2-deep would look something like...

PG: DSJr., Johnson
SG: Henderson, Dorn
SF: Rowan, Henderson, Kirk
PF: Abu, Hicks
C: Yurtseven, Anya

I think you're much more likely to see Henderson playing the 3 to spell Rowan(or go with a smaller line-up) over playing Kirk there and also letting Dorn get some minutes at the 2.

Even if we landed Kapita, he'd fit in right behind Abu and battle with Hicks to start. Would allow Freeman to redshirt and if we landed Newman he'd be redshirting and practicing with the team(would be a really good bonus).

I fully expect you'll see some small-ball line-up with DSJ, Dorn, and Henderson on the court at the same time, and wouldn't rule out seeing both DSJ and Johnson playing at the same time.

In person while at Carmichael. BJ shooting threes, ABU with some nice dunks, and Kirk going nuts. So no it isn't crazy posts over here

I'm actually quite interested to see what Dorn can do against ACC talent after a year of practicing with our guys. I have tempered expectations but I'm certainly optimistic. He was clearly too good to stay at Charlotte.

I can't believe how we went from full out panic mode when the Martins left and Abu tested the water to this. We have depth for the first time in years and have top 50 players willing to basically sit out a year to play for us. Insane.
