Bone Marrow Typing Drive Today!

submitted by WtchyWmn on Monday, April 14 2008 at 12:27 AM

Where? Talley Student Center

When? Today, 4/14/08, 3pm-7pm

What? A bone marrow typing drive to gather donors for the national registry. This is being done in support and in honor of our current Leader of the Pack, Nick Schultz who has been diagnosed with cancer.

It takes 20 minutes and is totally painless...just a cheek swab!

The goal is 500 donors....thanks guys!

Anyone who lives on Campus should show up! This is an easy way to get your good deed for the day, and you could really help out someone in need.

FYI: This is what I've found so far in my research... (from http://www.marrow.org/HELP/Join_the_Donor_Registry/Med_Guidelines_Join/index.html)

Allergies
If you suffer from common allergies to animals, the environment, or medications, etc., you will be allowed to register to donate. Serious or life-threatening allergies to medications or latex will need to be carefully evaluated before you may join the NMDP Registry as a potential volunteer donor.

Cold or Flu
Recent infections, such as colds or flu will not prevent you from registering to become a potential volunteer donor.

If I lived anywhere near Raleigh, I'd be at this event.
