never did quite understand that

I guess if they're raucous, dangerous, out of control or unreasonably psychotic then it's understandable to remove them from society in some capacity, but that's a pretty small minority

it's just a weird thing to me. it doesn't seem like it would be inherently a human thing to want to control others. seems like that's a learned kind of behavior *thinking_face.gif*

The Bottom Line
You are likely correct that the excessive need to control is learned. We are born wanting to be free; we are taught to be managers and subordinates. The most secure humans generally feel very little need to control anyone but themselves.
