Need a back up for depth. WW has barely ever thrown the ball in a real college game.

I think I’ve seen a few guys come in to be a back up for a year in the NIL era if they have future coaching ambitions. Maybe something similar here.

Ah, that angle makes sense. I guess this guy didn't exactly light up FCS with his passing either now that I'm looking at his stats. I get us wanting one more backup maybe, but couldn't really see what would be in it for the player unless he thought the position would be opening up.

AFAIK nobody has tried that move outside of a special case where the player's school refused to add him to the portal -- and I believe he still executed his move within the portal window timeline. NCAA rules say you sit a year otherwise.

the best player on the NC State women's basketball team transferred here without entering the portal. There does not need to be any special case. The only thing that has to happen is that the player must be apply to and be accepted by the university before any official contact with the coaching staff can take place.

You think it was a coincidence she unenrolled from Vandy the day before the House agreement went into effect? I get what you're saying, but the House agreement solidified a whole bunch of grey areas that were going on the prior couple of years. I doubt the lawyers put all that shit together and coaches spent so much time bellyaching about the portal windows, for them to overlook the loophole of just unenrolling and enrolling somewhere else.

It's very much still in effect. The NCAA can't stop a student from transferring to another school. And if they do it and walk on, they can't stop them from playing. That's what Pierre did. That's still allowed.
