Let us all appreciate Trea Turner's pro career here.

He just went 8-8 to tie the Washington Nats record for consecutive hits. Not bad for a rookie.

I hope he never gets a hit the rest of his Nationals career. Fuck the Nats.

[Edited on August 25, 2016 at 2:04 PM. Reason : I also hope he plays in another division and rakes starting tomorrow.]

10-12, as of tonight.

Very glad I got Trea's jersey last year with the #official 10 year anniversary patch. Helps establish me from all these posers in D.C. bandwagoning with the 2016 jersey.

On a (somewhat) more serious note, it is awesome having your favorite college player play for your favorite pro team. Been telling these folks up here since he got called up briefly last year that he is the real deal. Glad he's helped prove me right.

If the ROY field wasn't so deep, he'd have a good shot this year. Nats raped the Padres on the trade that landed them Turner.

Lol at dusty baker talking about his man muscle and touching his butt... wtf

This guy has HOF potential if he's gonna put up .900 ops at SS or CF with great defense and baserunning. He looks freaking tiny thoughave. Almost wonder if it's worth it for him to bulk up though if it increases injury risk and takes away any of his speed

Watching the Nats game. They just said that Trea learned how to stop tipping when he's going to steal from a Boston College coach. Lol. Where was Avent on that one?

probably pretty happy that Turner was successful on 89% of his steal attempts while at State

oh and since I guess this hasn't been posted yet

Stupid fucking Padres. They traded a future All Star in a trade they were already the loser in. Amazing.

Hate that he plays for the Nats.

?

Turner was the player they agreed to trade when they made the deal. Dumb MLB rules made it where they couldn't name him in the trade until a year after he was drafted.

^ I looked back on the trade details and remember why I kept thinking Turner was not a key piece. The Rays sent Wil Myers to the Padres and the Rays were set to get Joe Ross and Turner. The Rays then brought the Nats in on the trade and flipped Ross and Turner to the Nats in exchange for Steven Souza and some other prospect.

I remember when learning that Tuner was involved, Myers value was way down, Ross's value was up, and speculation was Souza was overrated. To me at the time, the Nats had won the trade simply by getting Ross.

A year later, it's clear Souza won't ever be a star, but may be a guy that hits 30 HRs with a .680 OPS (a Chris Carter type). Ross had shown some real promise last year and this year, but the shine is off some with his injury. Myers has obviously had a better season this year and the Padres did better than I expected - he was straight trash in 2015 though.

So in reality the Nats raped the Rays in the deal and the Padres didn't do as bad. I just never interpreted the deal initially to be Turner-Myers-Souza. I always saw it Ross-Myers-Souza with Tuner being a cherry on top.

oh ok. i just thought you were referring to the fact that he wasn't officially named as part of the trade until much later (when it became obvious they were already trade losers).

i don't know why i post in baseball threads. i care so little about baseball any more it's not even funny.

Trea Turner walks off the Phillies. Deep HR straight away center. Huge rod.

Saw a blip that said he has already contributed like 2.9 WAR in 50 games or whatever. Would be on pace for nearly a 9 WAR season which would be better than Kris Bryant this year. Hoping he can keep it up. Would be awesome if we had a superstar player in the bigs.

He deserves ROY despite his limited playing time. He was the best player in baseball for like 2.5 months.

No, Corey Seager deserves to be rookie of the year. He's had an amazing (full) rookie year. Turner has been amazing as well, but in ~half the amount of games. In many other years he'd have a great shot at it, but he has zero chance this year.

His BA is 3rd in all of MLB, but doesn't count in the records since he only played about 3 months. Still very impressive.

Damn I forgot that Seager was technically a rookie. Yeah he deserves it and should be top 3-5 in the MVP. Seager got a lot of PT last year.

"Turner hit for the third cycle in Nationals history and drove in a career-high seven runs, helping Washington to a 15-12 win over the Colorado Rockies on a frigid Tuesday night.

The shortstop had a single in the first, a two-run double in the second, a two-run homer in the sixth and a bases-loaded triple in the seventh. It was the first cycle by the Nationals since Cristian Guzman on Aug. 28, 2008."

Tossed out of the game today. Nats failed to score after loading the bases and no outs capped off by Trea yelling at the umpire after striking out looking to end the inning.
