yes, if we suffer an injury to one of zo, lewis, purvis then we're in trouble. but we were fine with three guards last year. i know there will be a learning curve for the freshman, but losing raymond isn't a huge loss.

but what happens if one of the guards gets injured? Our guards would have to play 40 mins a piece, and two of them are freshman. we're dangerously thin now, need somebody on the bench as a back-up.

Does anyone remember an interview with Wood's dad after the Gottfried hire last year? He said he was excited his son would now get to play his natural position of Shooting Guard.

It obviously didn't happen, but I don't think Wood playing the 2 if we're in a pinch would be tragic, depending on who he'd be guarding. We obviously don't want him chasing around someone with crazy speed, but he could hold his own against the Andre Dawkins of the world.

Right now our guard rotation is two freshmen and Zo

Last year it was two seniors and Zo

I'm not sure how much a sophomore Raymond wouldve helped (think he had the athleticism to contribute in the ACC but it wouldve taken him until late junior or senior year to get there with the rest of his game) but it certainly doesn't help to lose him

Our rotation this year was 7 people: Zo, CJW, CJL, Howell, Painter, Wood, Alex. Even though foul trouble was often a problem, it was a pretty good balance.

Our rotation next year looks like: Lewis, Zo, Purvis, Wood, Warren, Howell, Painter + (possibly CJL, Amile, TDT, Harris or Vandy). How deep do you want the line up to go?

Are some of you people really sweating this transfer. Godspeed to the kid, but Raymond was a desperation recruit recruited by a dead man walking head coach. Gottfried really had no choice but to honor the commitment so late in the process, and without really knowing what kind of team he was inheriting. And don't come at me with the Julius Mays is tearing it up at Mid Major State U angle, Jaqawn in not on his level.

re: your edit--I must admit, I was biased before he stepped on campus due to us being his only offer. I would go into his ball handling and jump shooting incapabilities, but I'm done trashing former players.
