Rooney hasn't really been doing much in the international arena lately anyway.

Quote :
"Rooney burst onto the scene in late 2002, and was immediately heralded as the new savior of English football. It coincided with the last we saw in English football of Paul Gascoigne, and Rooney was thrust into the national team before the end of his debut Premier League season. He quickly became a key man, and since then, almost every peak and trough in the performance of the national team has been attributed to his contribution, or lack thereof. England was brilliant in the Euro 2004 group stages, and in qualifying for World Cup 2010 -- and Rooney was the figurehead. Yet he limped off against Portugal in 2004, was sent off against the same opponents two years later, was absent for the crucial qualifying defeat to Croatia in 2007 and was anonymous in 2010 in South Africa.

England has struggled to adapt when deprived of Rooney, especially in the two Portugal games. His replacement in those two matches was Darius Vassell in 2004 and Peter Crouch in 2006 -- players you couldn't possibly expect to play the Rooney role. That is essentially the problem: a lack of replacement in stylistic terms, which makes it so dangerous to depend so much upon a player who, for all his qualities, is distinctly unreliable. Through suspension, injury or simple lack of form, Rooney is far from a consistent player."

So Gonzalo Higuain has three hat tricks in his last four games for club and country. Absurd..

Don't want be all or anything but I find myself pulling for City a lot lately. I know it initially started because they've got the best chance to beat United for the title but I'm not exactly sure why I find myself cheering for them in the CL.

I think it's because of Balotelli, to be honest

All I care about is that they play some nice damn soccer. Much more enjoyable to watch than United's borefest

Looks like ManCity won't make it out of the group stages. Napoli shouldn't have a problem with Villarreal.

Would be good and bad though. Good b/c fuck ManCity, I don't ever want to see them winning the UCL. Bad b/c they would be able to go all out to win the league.

I like Mancini better than Ferguson's bitching ass, so I'd root for him over him but I just don't like what City stands for.

I'd love life of Basel can beat Man U though and none of them go through. If London is the only England city to go through.... LOL.

He pulled a heelfan and now has two teams

Pretty excited for Milan/Barca today. I want a offensive game with lots of chances. I'm thinking that both teams already being through helps that.

First Prem game I saw in person was at Upton Park so a I do like West Ham. To keep my Spurs hate going I also pull for Arsenal. It's not like I'm bonuses ding between Barca, City and Inter here...

Ultimate troll if Arsenal are the only English team to make it out of the group stage.

I doubt United blow it, though..

Vermaelen breaking Bender's jaw...he's out until 2012 with a double jaw break and damaged MCL due to the collision.

Just saw the highlight from behind the goal and it was definitely a handball.

I'm about ready for Spurs to get out of this comp in general. You win nothing and all it does is distract our players from the real goal (top 4) on top of making them play extra meaningless minutes.

Way to shit the fucking bed, Valencia. A perfectly good opportunity to eliminate a team that no sane person could possibly like, and you lay an egg like that.

And supposedly AC Milan have a deal with Tevez, just have to work out the transfer with City.
