I'm gonna miss Maryland bitching about the big 4.

Otherwise who cares. Please do let the door hit you on the way out.

So, theoretically lets say the ACC adds 3 to get to 16 full members. UConn, Louisville and Cincy. That's the final death toll for the Big East and football. They would only have Temple and USF as football members from the current Big East. I'm sure all the new members would be able to get out of their contracts as there would be no point to joining a conference with 2 football teams.

regardless of your personal feelings towards maryland, that the acc now officially holds can-be-raided status is bad news guys.

The sooner people accept that we don't go anywhere without UNC the better. SEC isn't calling and frankly I don't want to join them. We are and always have been a mediocre football program. I'd rather stay and play Duke/UNC twice every year in basketball personally.

even if the ACC gets "raided", the SEC and B1G only need 2 teams to get to 16, the Pac 12 needs 4, and the only place they're gonna get teams from is the Big XII. At worst, that leaves us taking scraps from the Big East like we always do and the Big XII unwanteds (Baylor, Iowa State, etc) getting the shaft (or getting pity invites from the B1G). FSU, Clemson, and Miami won't run off to a conference that's gonna get poached by the Pac 12, and they add no value to the SEC.

Maryland is just proving their retardedness by leaving for a conference that wants them less than we do.

What I don't get is this. People keep talking about how Maryland got no respect from the ACC. Yet do they really expect to get anymore respect from the Big Ten? How the heck are the Terrapins supposed to outshine juggernauts like Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin or traditional powerhouses like Penn State, Nebraska and Iowa? Those schools all cast just as massive of, if not greater shadow than many of the more prominent ACC schools. At least in the ACC, Maryland had tradition to carry them, but in the Big Ten, they don't even have that to rely upon.

"People" may say that but "people" don't matter. Maryland needed $ and Maryland got more $ guaranteed from the Big 10.

Good programs mean shit when it comes to television markets and money. You'd think ACC fans would know that by now with the shitstain that is Boston College holding down the bottom of the ACC in everything.

Has nothing to do with rivalries and everything to do with the UNC system that we are a part of and politics.

This was my line of thinking until this MD mess. I thought the politics in MD would keep them in place, but it looks like money matters more. I'm not so sure anymore that the UNC system/NC politicians would put up that much of a fight if NC State or Carolina decided to split to a different conference.

if we end up moving the the SEC, I won't be that upset.

I pretty much hate every single ACC team anyway and SEC football is a lot more exciting. Plus we'll have chance to play 3rd fiddle to UK and UF in basketball, so we'll feel right at home!

Hey, it'd probably be nice and it'd improve our profile, but it's not going to happen. Look at the priority list of schools and who you would get if you're another conference. We're midpack for the ACC at best.

it's pretty bad, we fall with every new update. when I applied we were tied with clemson. clemson is now like 68. my first year on campus we were tied with VPI. now we're 30-40 spots below them. woodson needs to start bribing the usnwr or whatever it is that influences their BS metrics once you get into the jumble of schools that are all roughly even

---

and uconn is a HORRIBLE add. What is the difference between them and UMass? Calipari went to the NBA, Calhoun didn't. You could say the same for New Hampshire, Delaware, etc if they hired good basketball coaches. Football is driving this. UConn was I-AA in football like 15 years ago. They're only relevant now because of a basketball coach who is no longer there

Offer the 50Mil to ND to add football. They would at least have to seriously consider it.

College sports landscape is changing. Personally I'm not sad to see Maryland go but I'm worried about who their replacement will be. Another Big East school or a competent mid-major?

Are there even any competent mid-major programs worth going after right now?

for anyone that mentioned anything other than money regarding maryland and conference alignment; you're way off base. respect, athletic achievements, etc. don't matter.

Maryland saw a much bigger paycheck and the Big10 saw the DC TV market. It's that simple.

NC isn't SEC country, dumbass. The ACC, anchored by the Big 4, has been a North Carolina tradition since 1954 and I, for one, don't want to change that.

Feel free to move to South Carolina and attend their academically inferior POS school, if you feel this way.

Considering the size of the Michigan and OSU alumni bases in the DC area, you'd think they would have gone after a team in yet another market that expands the footprint, like Syracuse. Guess we're lucky to have stopped that one.

I hope we add 3 so we can get to 16 and split into "The New ACC" and "ACC Classic".

New ACC:
-FSU
-Miami
-Pitt
-Syracuse
-BC
-UConn
-Louisville
-Cincy

ACC Classic:
-NC State
-UNC
-Duke
-Wake
-Clemson
-GT
-UVA
-VT (I know they aren't "classic" but they make more sense here than FSU due to traditional rivalry with UVA and land grant status)

The whole purpose of these divisions is to get the 2-a-year with Duke, UNC, and Wake for us

Yeah everyone totally saw Rutgers joining the Big Ten. Plus VTech and NCSU are the most rumored teams. Kinda like how Maryland was rumored to the Big 10.

When will people quit with the "never" shit? If FSU and Clemson leave, the ACC is done.

The ACC can make 2 divisions, and call them the ACC and the Big East
ACC:
Duke
UNC
NCSU
Wake
Virginia
Clemson
Ga Tech
FSU

Big East:
Syracuse
Connecticut
Pittsburgh
Miami
Boston College
Cincinnati
Virginia Tech
Louisville

Without getting into it there are about a thousand things wrong with this. Size, money, endowment, alum size, academic ranking, athletic excellence (hint: not just men's bball).

You know this though. And, again, I wouldn't be disappointed if UL was the choice.

lol @ "NCSU isn't SEC country". Because Houston is totally Big East country, New Jersey is Big Ten country, and West Virginia is Big 12 country.

Hence why they would like to make it SEC country.

Its been mentioned a bit by different people but I think I'm finally on board with having a conference affiliation just for football and a different one for everything else but that won't happen cause it will screw up the tv deals.

Maybe the big east will finally consider ECU now that they lost Rutgers, and are about to lose one more. ECU is finally going to join a big boy conference only to find it dissolved the next day.
