Hodge would be in my top 3 favorite NCSU athletes.

Beck
Costner
Grant (solely for that dumb ass 4 loss comment)
Ferguson

Least favorites:
Costner and Jose Laureanu, or however the hell you spell his name. Especially Costner.

Favorites:
Marcus Melvin and Jericho Cotchery. Love those dudes. And Hodge of course.

This is an amazing troll post. The thing is 95% of the country could not name even 3 Tennessee athletes. Some would get Peyton Manning and that would be the end of it.

At least some NFL fans would get Rivers, RW, and Glennon for us since they were all in the news recently as former NC State QBs."

Um no. I think most would remember maybe the greatest defensive player of all time, Reggie White. Then throw in Witten, Foster, Helton, Dickey, Jamal Lewis, Shuler (remember the question wasn't "name good athletes"), Berry, Mayo, Al Wilson, John Henderson, etc. But nice effort trying to troll after my true statement that you just didn't like to hear.

I don't have anything against Ferguson. I know he wasn't good, but he never really fucked up or cost us any games. He just wasn't as good as we thought he might be.

For favorites, besides obvious guys like Rivers and Hodge, I really liked Andre Brown, Manny Lawson, Andre Maddox, Taylor Gentry, Scooter Sherrill, Cam Bennerman...off the top of my head.

LOL. I watch sports as much as any average guy and the only UT players I could even think of quickly were Peyton, Helton, and Shuler and only because he was a hack politician. LOL too if you think most people are going to remember John Henderson and Jamal Lewis went to UT. Grasping for straws there. Torry Holt is much more recognizable than those guys since you want to bring in non-current athletes.

In reality many fans don't know where a lot of the athletes went to college so congrats on making a statement trying to shit on NC State that is true for 95% of all colleges with high level sports.

Na, you are wrong bro. Take off your red tinted glasses. If you don't know Reggie White, Foster and Witten then you need to learn more about football. Oh, and everyone was mentioning non current players, so no idea what you meant with that...

Hate it a real strong word, I don't hate any of these guys, they just frustrated the hell out of me when they played:

-- Evtimov
-- Adam Kiker
-- Greg Golden
-- JJ Hickson

Evtimov? Why? I always thought he was kinda a fan favorite.

And if we're talking football, Tennessee is definitely more relevant and has had bigger names than NC State.

Why was JJ Hickson frustrating? He led the team in basically everything.

Evtimov got wrecked defensively. He always matched up against a PF/C and was an awful rebounder. What he did offensively never made up for the liability he was defensively. It always bothered me that Herb played Evtimov over Powell in his lone season at NCSU. Powell was a true center who could rebound and (somewhat) play defense. Sure he couldn't pass or shoot like Evtimov but he was a better finisher around the rim and he had much more quickness and athleticism.

Hickson I didn't like mostly because of how Sid played him. McCauley's playing time diminished and he was rarely seen on the court with Hickson and Costner. Before you call me out for suggesting a lineup with 3 bigs, you have to remember how painful that season was. It was time to try something new to get the team going, but Sid always stuck with with his lineups that included McCauley on the bench. I believe it wasn't until the ACC tournament that we finally saw the three of them on the court together.

Offensively he was a black hole. Once he got the ball in the post that shot was going up.

Powell's freshmen year yeah, he was at State two years.

Nah we should have done that. I remember when everyone but Sidney Lowe thought we should start McCauley, Costner, and Tracy Smith the next season. I think he eventually went to that lineup late in the season.

The same Arian Foster who barely played at UT. Oh yeah I automatically associate him with Tennessee football Just like UNC taking credit for Willie Parker. Lame.

You can live in your little fantasy world where you think everyone knows all about UT. For most pro fans, they don't really care where their favorite players went to college unless they have some connection to said college. My dad watches a lot of college and NFL football. If I asked him where Witten went to school, he would have no idea because it does not matter.

I had no clue Witten went to UT. I did know Foster did but only because UT fans I know always acted like he was a stud there when he broke out in Houston.

^^^^ yes!

^^^ just showing your ignorance... He was the second all time leading rusher in the history of the school. So yeah, he more than "barely played". Thread won. Move on, but you won't because you are roffle long. Also your dad must not pay attention, they mention it all the time.

^ riiiight. Just arguing now, either that or you need to watch more football or have a catscan. They just mention it before every game. You and ^^^ his dad are weird. Most people if they saw a really really good player (like HOF level) and didn't know where he was from would be interested in finding out. "Wow, this Jerry Rice guy is good, I wonder where he went to college."

Look guys, I love State. But Jaybee is right. Tennessee has more recognizable former athletes than we do. Recently, State has had some good NFL players...Rivers, Holt, Mario, Russell Wilson. But overall, I think the average football fan could name more Tennessee players than State players.

Of this list, I have only ever heard of Witten and Foster. No clue Witten went to UT. I only knew Foster attended because he recently admitted to taking $$ from the school.

2. Dale Ellis - used to love this sharpshooter, until he started beating the shit out of his wife and driving drunk more than...
3. Donte Stallworth - likes to murder people with his car, what a stupid fucke...and for a first round pick, this guy has been cut more than an emo kid with a razor blade
T4. Nu'Keese Richardson/Janzen Jackson/Mike Edwards - these guys had a free ride to the greatest football program in the land, and blew it by playing wannabe gangster stickup kids...cost us a few SEC titles
5. Cameron Clear - this kid was gonna be the next Shannon Sharpe until he decided to start robbing other students...cost us at least 2 natty's

More like, if there was a thread about NC State's colors, you'd make a snide remark about being impressed that NC State fans knew what NC State's colors were, then proceed to make post after post about Tennessee's colors
