Be fair to the guy: That's what he thought a dirty pan looked like. He's fired housecleaners for less.

You'd think they'd hold off on saying stuff like this until after the Presidential election, especially after how much attention the Akin comments got.

I really don't get these people. How hard is it to say "Rape is bad" and just move on. It's like the easiest unforced error to avoid, yet they continue doing it.

The discussion is about abortions. So they could just say "abortions for none", but they feel the need to explain why they think even unwanted rape-babies must be brought into the world.

so yesterdays "outrage" was over the Lena Dunham "you'll never forget your first time" ad, with this dude leading the charge

today, this gem surfaces:

shockingly, all those who were absolutely offended at the Dunham for Obama ad have absolutely nothing to say about the Reagan line

Not the GOP but the guy who runs unskewed polls and writes for the Examiner called out Nate Silver again today... by calling him a high-pitched, effeminate man.

Nice arguing strategy.

GOP needs to send around an internal memo to its candidates advising them to just ignore rape questions and/or remain silent when the topic is brought up. At this point they can't even open their mouths without putting their foot in it. Beyond dense.

The analysis, conducted by the Congressional Research Service, compared tax policy with GDP patterns over the last 65 years. The report's findings undermine a central tenet of Republican party orthodoxy on taxes.

The report was first released in September but was removed from public circulation shortly thereafter, apparently after pressure was applied by Senate Republican leaders.

We are re-posting the report here, in its original form, so that it receives the unfiltered exposure it deserves as a nonpartisan analysis. Click here to read the study."

Ah yes but you see that would require the top money earners to take a short term decrease in income for a long-term increase in income. The CEO mentality is to do the opposite in order to maximize bonuses. Plus a lot of people are really really bad at thinking long-term.

No One in America Should Have to Wait 7 Hours to Vote

Quote :
"This is happening not because of a natural disaster or breakdown in machinery. It is happening by partisan design. Alarmed by the strong Democratic turnout in early voting in 2008, Republican lawmakers, including Governor Rick Scott, reduced the number of early voting days from 14 to eight. When the restrictions were challenged in federal court under the Voting Rights Act, a three-judge panel said they would have a discriminatory impact upon minority voters. But only five of the state's 67 counties are covered by the federal civil rights law. "

GOP should take this opportunity to dispose of issues that are guaranteed losers going forward.

- Opposing dream act/amnesty
- Opposing gay marriage
- Opposing women's issues

The demographic trends aren't in their favor on these issues, and opposing these issues really isn't vital to the future of the country.

The GOP bascially needs to shed the nutjob express of religious and social extremists as the Tea Party took a beating and of course the anti-women sentiment carried into the Presidential race. I also believe Romney's 47% tape was almost a fatal blow.

as long as the GOP wants to be the party of rich white men, this is going to keep repeating itself. the GOP might be able to hold the House just by the nature of how it works, but they won't be in serious play for much of anything until they drop the hate retoric and embrace the changing times.

the only reason there's a GOP in the first place is because of the Civil Rights Act, though I suppose they don't teach about the Solid South much nowadays. plus all the hillbilly hicks that vote GOP don't realize they're supporting the party that led the attack and occupation of the South in that minor skirmish called the Civil War

I agree with this although the gay marriage thing is a not necessarily a loser for the GOP. Republicans are going to have to find a way to gain favor with hispanics as they basically just won Obama another 4 years. As for women's issues, Republicans just need to just stop talking about abortion period. It does them zero in terms of gaining votes/support.

Where in the constitution does is say separation of church and state? Liberals hang on this crap like it is their purpose in life. Our country was founded by men who openly wrote and spoke about Christianity and put elements of Christian principles throughout our laws. I believe those men would be shocked to see what has come of our country the past 50-60 years as the hippie generation as overtaken American politics by bowing to special interests.

how many times does it need to be pointed out that many "founding fathers" were much more so "theists" than they were "christians"? Especially what defines an american christian today, especially a "bible-belt christian".

Which of these men who founded the country were you referring to?

Jefferson?

"Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man"

"There is not one redeeming feature in our superstition of Christianity. It has made one half the world fools, and the other half hypocrites."

Franklin?

"Lighthouses are more useful than churches."

"The way to see by faith is to shut the eye of reason"

"In the affairs of the world, men are saved not by faith, but by the lack of it"

Was it Adams?

"This would be the best of all possible worlds if there were no religion in it"

Or maybe Paine?

"Of all the tyrannies that affect mankind, tyranny in religion is the worst"

I know you're trying to be sarcastic here, but it's fairly accurate. the GOP social policy is pretty much fully borne of evangelical christian views, and the GOP will continue to lose elections until it moves away from this.

Or get a Bush or Nixon on the ticket. 1928 was the last time we had a GOP presidential victory without one on the ticket, so maybe there's something there for ya!
