Alexandra Torrensvilas was the target of cops who pinned a DUI on her for an accident they caused. Now she has been cleared of charges after the Broward State Attorney's Office officially dropped the four DUI citations on Wednesday.
But the saga is far from over as now prosecutors turn their attention to the four Hollywood police officers who made up an intricate story to cover for a February traffic accident involving a cop car. The scheme was caught on one of the officers dashboard cameras.
The disturbing video shows Alexandra Torrensvilas, 23, handcuffed in the back of the squad car as the officers get their stories straight on what they are going to say happened." |

here's some of their plot to get out of it
Quote : | "The cops begin to brainstorm believable excuses for the accident.
"As far as I'm concerned. I'm going to put words in his mouth. She went to accelerate and a cat jumped out of the window at which point he thought it could have been a pedestrian, which distracted him," Pressley tells Sgt. Andrew Diaz, another veteran of the force. "I mean what's the chances of hitting a f---in drunk when a cat jumps out of the window?"
Still, the cops run with the half-baked idea and rush to get Torrensvilas to do a Breathalyzer test so they can officially say she was drunk.
"I nailed her on the video. I already hung her on video. She said she has been doing a beer party," Pressley says. "She's gonna blow."
Then, another cop debates with Pressley on who is going to write up the fabricated report to clear their police comrade.
"I know how I'm going to word this with the cat so we can get him off the hook. I'll write the narrative," Pressley says. "We're going to bend this a little bit."
Civilian Community Service Officer Karim Thomas joins the three senior officers and the four cops go so far as to change the angle of pictures of the accident to make it look like Torrensvilas swerved in front of the cop car and caused the accident, not Francisco.
Throughout the tape, the cops acknowledged what they are doing is illegal, but when you are the law, there is nothing wrong with bending it for a fellow cop, one says.
"I don't lie and make things up ever because it's wrong, but if I need to bend it a little bit to protect a cop, I'll do it," Pressley tells Francisco after reassuring him no one will ever find out. "She's freaking hammered anyway."
The cops even do a final rehearsal before Villa is taken to the city lock up.
"We'll take care of it," one officer says. The others reply: "We're good."
The police officers are currently on administrative duty pending a state attorney's office investigation." |

^ They'll get suspended at most.
If you're a cop, you can shoot an 18 year old kid in the head and all that happens is you get fired.
It should be the opposite. Police should be held MORE accountable for illegal actions than the average citizen for quite a few reasons. The biggest reason is because police have ultimate power over other human beings (Something I find disgusting in and of itself), so when they abuse it they have far more potential to do damage to people's lives IMO. Yet, police are regularly let off the hook for no other reason than the fact that they wear a fucking badge. It amazes me how some people seem to think that police are infallible and deserve all of this extra special treatment and shit. It goes right to their heads and then they actually start believing that this shit is something they deserve.
This cop said it himself, if he has to ruin a "normal" worthless citizens life in order to make his fellow officer's job a little easier, that's no big deal. This attitude is disgusting and the fact that people actually go along with that kind of shit and support it absolutely blows my fucking mind. ] 8/1/2009 9:27:13 AM |

From what I can understand: The chick was drunk. She earned the DUI all by herself. She slammed on breaks in front of the cops and the cop rearended her. Regardless its still the cops fault for rearending her. They lie to make her take the blame for the collision on top of the DUI she already has.
What they did was wrong. I think the way the story is presented is misleading. It makes it look like the cops rearended a sober teenager, gave her a DUI and then pinned the collision on her too. 8/1/2009 9:35:21 AM |
SaabTurbo All American 25459 Posts user info edit post |
Well one thing I honestly do believe is that if a cop hits you, they're going to make it your fault unless there's serious proof to the contrary (And even then that can disappear if all of the cops buddies help out). That is a guarantee.
Even if you were an uninvolved witness to such a wreck, it's still your word against a police officer's and that means you're wrong, 100% of the time. Plus, if the cop is crazy nobody is going to claim that it was his fault because then I guarantee you the cop will just arrest you for some stupid shit too. Some of the most ridiculous human beings I've ever encountered have been police officers and I truly think it's the attitude about police in this country that breeds such sickening human beings.
Sure, there are some good ones, but they all have so much power than if you run into just one bad one at the wrong time that can easily be the end of your life (Because you could easily get killed, go to jail or get some shit on your record that fucks you for life, etc). ] 8/1/2009 9:39:55 AM |

I slammed on brakes at the last second at a stoplight when I was like 16yo, and a guy rear-ended me. The cops came and gave him a ticket and said he was at fault, but I can honestly without a doubt say that it was all my fault for slamming on brakes at the last minute. He had no reaction time. My fault, totally. So I really don't like the "rule" that the person who does the rear-ending is always at fault. Because in my situation, that totally wasn't the case.
But if a cop rear-ends you and then tries to fabricate a story to make it not all their fault, well then, that's horse shit and those cops don't need to be cops anymore. It makes it look like they could possibly have fabricated stories some other time to make other incidents go their way, and when you think about it that way - you can't trust them, so you need to can them.
But it'll never happen.

Quote : | " it's still your word against a police officer's and that means you're wrong, 100% of the time." | Exactly. Their word should NOT be held in a higher regard simply because they took an oath.

Sorry dear, but he was 100% at fault. You could be guilty of impeding traffic, but the wreck would still be 100% his fault. Why? Because drivers are supposed to keep a safe distance between themselves and the car in front of them. Had he been far enough back, he would've been able to brake in time and not hit you. (and yes... most people do follow too closely.)
Quote : | "those cops don't need to be cops anymore. " | This is what's important. These cops should be fired, without a doubt in the world. I think they should go to jail. Fuck them.

Since you seem to imply that the ends (finding a person DUI) justify the means (rearending an unsuspecting citizen), I, for one, hope that cops rear end more unsuspecting citizens just in case they might be driving under the influence.

i think its worth of note that you all saying she shouldn't have had the charges dropped are knee jerk reaction morons.
her charge was DWI causing property damage. the damage being the cop car. she was not guilty of the damage to the cop car therefore that charge shouldn't stick.
i would say it helps to know what you're talking about before you make a comment, but if that was a prerequisite no thread on tww would make it past page 1.

My dad had an officer write an accident up to put him at fault for a wreck he didn't cause in Rocky Mount one time. He got rear ended by a guy who was friends with the officer who arrived to take the police report. The officer wrote him as being at fault by saying all of his tail lights were out or something. He also wrote that my dad's truck was already damaged before the wreck (his head smashed the windshield iirc) even though it was not damaged. Two things saved him: 1. He had his truck inspected that very day. What kind of luck is that? I guess there is a 1 in 365 chance of that happening if you get in a wreck, but it worked out pretty well for him. 2. My mom's brother was a fellow officer who vouched for my dad to the chief of police.
In the end the chief of police gave my dad the choice of whether the officer got fired or not. My dad told him it was his officer and his decision. Not sure if they got rid of the guy or not.
