I am supposed to get 2 cleanings a year - well they said it is supposed to be every 6 months which is garbage. It was never like this before. I was 2 weeks shy of 6 months and they won't pay for it.

They wouldn't pay for my filling last month because I got a clear filling on a "back tooth" WTF

I'm going to see if I can get my PayFlex account to reimburse me. They already owe me $45 so this will be a good excuse to call them tomorrow.

Right but you didn't answer my question - is it through NC or another state? Like it should be BCBS NC. Mine is out of the state of Mass because that's where my company is HQed. When I worked for NC based companies I felt the insurance was a bit better but that also had to do with what kind of plan my company bought. My health insurance is top notch but my dental is kind of crap.

NC- I've never lived anywhere else so I would have no reason to get it through another state. Have you thought about getting your own dental insurance? even if it costs you a little more, would the decreased hassle out weigh that menial monetary increase?

also, whenever I have worked somewhere, they have offered to just reimburse me for some or all of my insurance costs, so I've just kept with what I've got (right now, boss lady pays for it all)

I have BCBS of Tennessee. Both of mine kind of suck, imo. But dental does pay for cleanings twice/yr

Brett my insurance being out of Mass has nothing to do with where I live. I live in NC. But insurance takes state presidence out of where your compan is HQed. Mine is HQed out of Massachusetts therefore that's where my insurance comes from.

And I have looked into my own dental insurance but it would end up costing a lot more than what I pay now. Considering I work for a company with over 11,000 employees, insurance is already pretty inexpensive. I just wish there was more clarity in the "rules" and when they change.

^ Just make sure you know if it's 2 times a year or every 6 months

I don't think that is a universal thing- I worked for a company out of Wisconson, yet I kept my BCBS NC


I might be the exception though- oh well, worked out for me (except for the whole having to get the root canal thing )

BCBS is a national insurance but you probably had BCBS of Wisconsin. My health insurance is Aetna of Mass which obviously Aetna is a nationally recognized insurance company but my specific insurance policy comes out of Massachusetts.

Like, I can use my health insurance here without problem* - as long as my doctor accepts Aetna but my particular policy comes from Massachusetts because that is where my company is headquartered.

* except for Rex UNC Hospitals because my insurance company and Rex have been in a bitter war for 18 months

I got to keep the same card, payments stayed the same, and I never had any change in benefits- like I said, I might have just been the exception. And again, I was on a personal plan that they were paying for

I will say the BCBS's website helped me a lot in determining expenses and benefits. http://www.bcbst.com is Tennessee's verison. I probably look on that site at least once a week.
