after drinking "regular" tea (not green or herbal, but normal bonjangles-like tea) or soda, but only if i don't eat anything with it...if i eat something, i'm good, but if i don't, i have to immediately drink 24+ ounces of water ASAP to keep it from burning...if i had to guess, i'd say it had something to do with excessive amounts of sodium, but google's not giving me anything

i drink more than 64 ounces of green tea (with orange/lemon/lime juices and honey added) each day, and that doesn't bother me

it's not cancer, and it's not an STD

someone find the answer for me, plz? i've asked two different general practice doctors about it, but neither of them "knew" of anything off the top of their heads, but suggested that i not worry about it if it only happens at certain times, and just to avoid drinking soda and tea in excess (but i don't really drink either of those often at all, and when i do, we're talking maybe 21 ounces over the course of an hour or so)

I would say that the black tea and soda sans food is acidifying your urine more then it would with food. The other teas could have less of an acid content or produce less acid in your kidneys. Thats really the only explanation I can think of that makes sense, but the physiology of it is a little tricky.

OR

The extra sugar is overloading your kidneys and coming out in the urine, when you eat it slows everything down and you have more time to absorb the sugar. If this explanation is correct you need to see a DR.....

i seriously doubt it's the second one, because when it comes to black tea and soda, i generally only drink unsweetened or diet (respectively), and even then, we're talking one "regular" sized drink, and only without food

agreed, which was one of my thoughts at first...but this happens (literally) within about 15 minutes of finishing the drink, and i don't drink much black tea or soda (like i said, i drink a lot of green tea, but that doesn't seem to bother me at all)
