Didn't Bowfinger (1999) parody his (his particularly, but the acting community in general obviously) Scientology assisted descent into delusional stupor 9 years ago? So... we're talking Top Gun or what?

other than top gun and rain man, every other tom cruise movie is somewhere between a guilty pleasure flick (i.e. days of thunder, mission impossible, etc.) and just plain shit.

Ah, Risky Business through Days of Thunder, the good ol' days before we learned Tom Cruise is insane.

You know...I'm not sure why...I can't stand Jaime Foxx and this was also after I really started having issues with Tom Cruise. I think I just couldn't seperate my feelings for the actors with the characters. So it's hard for me to know why, but if I had to guess, I'd say I went into with a negative attitude. Now obviously I didn't consciously know this or I never would have watched the movie, but looking back, I can see how this affected my view of it.

Then again, there are just some movies that rub me the wrong way and I can't put my finger on it...some examples: 'The Fan' (with DeNiro), 'Training Day' (yeah I really don't know what my problem with that movie is and I know that everyone and their mother loved it)...and 'Prelude To A Kiss'.

Now put on 'The Hunt For Red October', 'Ferris Bueller', 'The Goonies', 'The Sandlot', 'Zoolander'....those I would watch 100 times before I watched the Titantic, which I refuse to watch...not sure why but I think it has something to do with Celine Dion.

I was actually really impressed with Tom Cruise in that movie (not a fan of him as an actor and I could give shit about his personal life).

I also didn't like Training Day or The Fan. My mother loves that Prelude To A Kiss movie, but I've never seen it.

I love all those except for The Goonies.

Not to mention...

"Legend"
"The Outsiders"
"Born on the Fourth of July"
"Interview with a Vampire"

Say what you want about him being crazy...but the man has made some damn good movies. I still love Michael Jackson's old music...

I think Top Gun and A Few Good Men are his only good movies with A Few Good Men being the best movie he ever did.

Top Gun is a homoerotic, cliche, action flick with some of the worst dialogue this side of the most recent Rambo movie. That being said, I enjoy it every time.
