Yay or Nay? Are there any con's to an electric?
1/30/2008 7:55:41 PM
they suck
1/30/2008 7:56:23 PM
they are more convenient but, i'm not a fan. whenever i used one it irriated the shit out of my skin, especially on my neck. plus they seem to miss more places (though i did have a rather middle of the road model)
1/30/2008 7:57:59 PM
i keep one just to get the goatee area closely shaven, which is far easier with an electric than a regular razorbut otherwise, hell to the no.........unless you shave and drive

dont do iti mean, unless u dont want to ever have a smooth shavewhen i shave with my electric (which i dont anymore), 2 hours later i am more rough than i am 24 hours after using a razor (schick quattro)
1/30/2008 7:58:09 PM
I switchedthey don't seem to remove all the neck hair though, but they work really well on the face

Razor blades are just do damn expensive
1/30/2008 7:59:11 PM
got to get a micro screen one. those rotary ones suck
1/30/2008 7:59:35 PM
i started out in high school with a really nice electric. one day i wanted to see if i could get a smoother shave with a blade and i haven't used the electric since. it was much more convenient, but i never felt like i got a truly smooth shave. a disposable bic shave is smoother than what i got from a $120 electric.[Edited on January 30, 2008 at 8:01 PM. Reason : ^^so are replacements for the electric]
1/30/2008 7:59:59 PM
well i mean, if 8 bucks a month for blades aren't worth actually feeling like you have shaved, then do what u want
1/30/2008 8:00:03 PM
i have never gotten a good shave out of an electric.
1/30/2008 8:00:30 PM
^^I only use a blade twice otherwise I get mad irritation.[Edited on January 30, 2008 at 8:01 PM. Reason : Shift + 6]

they work fine but your face (at least my face) takes a little time to get used to it. so its kind of a pain in the ass at first.i'd definitely shave it one final time with the regular razor. and you have to make sure you keep up with it ever day or just about, or youll end up having to use the regular razor again(basically cause it sucks ass to use an electric with anything other than stubble. it fucking rips it out)
1/30/2008 8:01:19 PM
i should probly do that for complete effectiveness, but i try to make them last as long as possible
1/30/2008 8:01:53 PM
to tell the truth, best shave i ever got was at a barber shop:FTW
1/30/2008 8:02:59 PM
use a saftey razor or even dual blades. I think I actually like dual blades better than my mach 3.
yea if i knew how to do the barber shop shave, id be set
1/30/2008 8:04:58 PM
i don't use anything but 2 blades.more than that is overkill.
1/30/2008 8:05:07 PM
if you do it, it will take about 3 weeks of shaving every day for you to transition and you have to use it everyday
1/30/2008 8:06:30 PM
saftey razors aren't straight razorssafteys are the old fashioned single dual side razors. You get the same quality shave as a saftey. You'll cut yourself up at first, though.

i was thinking i didnt like my mach 3 until i stopped buying the 99 cent shaving cream. the new stuff pretty much melts the hair or something, its crazy. comes right off, and im done in 2 minutes

^gel?[Edited on January 30, 2008 at 8:11 PM. Reason : i use gillete fusion shave gel and it's great]

i have a merkur classic safety razor and i can't tell you how much i've saved on blades in the last year alone, not to mention a MUCH closer shave...the only thing different is you shave at a 30'deg angle from the skin and you do it with very very little pressure, you just keep doing it gently until it's close as you can get[Edited on January 30, 2008 at 8:56 PM. 1/30/2008 8:52:36 PM
haha, i didn't know you could even still buy those
1/30/2008 8:53:31 PM
yeah its some kind of gel. and its a hell of a lot easier on the blades.all this time i thought it was the hair

^^it's coming back... i've seen numerous "The Art of Shaving" stores in mall's these days...http://www.theartofshaving.com/taos6/intro.php

My face is sensitive, so I went electric for years (current one Remington Triple Screen). 6 months ago I got a free Gillette 4-Blade straight razor in the mail and tried it out. Holy shit, I had NEVER had a shave that smooth. Sorry but anybody that says electrics shave as close as a blade are fucking liars.I alternate and do the razor when I want a nice close feel, and the electric when I am in a damn hurry.[Edited on January 30, 2008 at 10:01 PM. i just bought one of those new norelco architect electrics. it was $texas, but it's by far the best one i've ever used. it even does well with the neck/throat area where you normally have to grind away at the same area for a while with most electrics. you can also open the screens and rinse the heads out in the sink which is nice.i've used blades before, but my hair grows so fast and thick it doesn't make much difference. either way i'm coming home with a 5 o'clock shadow, it just might take a few more hours with the blade. plus, i grow beards off and on for what equals about half of the year probably. so, i just stick with the fast/easy electric.
