notice that while you have vista x64 at least half of your programs are 32 bit including steam?
12/14/2007 6:57:11 AM
Vista Business 64 bit. Sounds like a train wreck. A completely avoidable train wreck.

^^yea... everyone needs 32 bit programs. Companies like Adobe just won't get on the bandwagon. However, when you run lightwave 9 or something that can address all that extra memory = 'tis GOLDEN. So the real question here is how much ram does blackdog have?
12/14/2007 8:46:12 AM
agreed 64 bit is amazing for the extra memory but I have a XP 32 bit rig with 4gb and i haven't had any performance problems course i haven't tried 64 bit so maybe I'm missing out

I only have 2GB of OCZ Platinum right now, but I'll be upgrading to 4GB soon.

im not a big fan of upgrading any OS until theres at least one service pack out
12/14/2007 1:36:18 PM
Yea I've been a little hestitant too, but after talking to some other PC Gamers it sounded like now wasn't a bad time. The only thing I'm having problems with is my sound card. The OS has been great and 64bit DX10 Crysis is niiiiiiiiiiiice
12/14/2007 1:38:10 PM
how much did you pay for that?I want to do a price comparison with my linux OS

The only problem with upgrading to 64bit is that everyone hasn't adopted to it yet. Including companies that make drivers, like you said your sound card. I tried upgrading my wife's laptop with the Vista Enterprise 64 and had all sorts of trouble and hacks to get the sound card and some other drivers to work. What sucked was neither the laptop manufacturer nor the third party devices, such as the video card, would not help nor did it sound like they were planning on working on creating drivers for it anytime soon.So I eventually uninstalled it and reinstalled the 32bit version and haven't had any problems. Like TreeTwista10 said it's best to wait till everything is finalized, stable and supported. I am happy enough with XP sp2 so far and I guess I can wait till then.
