If you're going to get a gun and have it sit there because you don't shoot much then I'd argue that a revolver is the best [handgun] choice. Almost by default that means a 38 or 357. Anyone who rarely shoots probably can't handle a 357 so you've got it narrowed down to 38. There's some good ammo out there from Buffalo Bore, Double Tap, etc that makes a 38+P a pretty good choice. Some of the 38+P is as good as some watered down 357 "magnum" crap on the market.

My personal preference is 18+1 rounds of 9x19 in a home gun but I don't think there's anything wrong with a 38. In fact, a 38 is within reach 90+% of my waking time.

fair enough, I just hear a lot about .38s still and I know most folks aren't out buying quality +P loads. I do get the simplicity of revolvers combined with a lack of smaller-caliber options, though. I suppose it's a tradition/legacy thing.

Yeah, what limits the 38 is ammo. You rarely find good loads in brick and mortar stores and you're probably right that most people aren't buying the good stuff.

The good stuff? I have normal everyday UMC +P hollow points from walmart in mine. I'm completely confident they will work just fine. There is no reason to pay $20 for a 25 round box of some Hornady specialty stuff.

No real big reason. But I've shot a few and really like the way it fits in my hand. also I want a revolver more than anything else.

Thanks for the recommendations.

I am thinking about unloading some old ww2 bolt actions that I have laying around. I have a mosin nagant, a SMLE number 4 mk 1 (though the shell extractor broke on it and hasnt been replaced yet), and a Kar98k. Any ideas as to the approximate price they would go for? They aren't in perfect condition or anything, but they shoot well.

If this isn't the thread for this I will move it to another.

I have a Beretta 86 Cheetah (.380) for sale, great condition - $575

The model 86 is also chambered for the .380 ACP (9 mm Short) cartridge, but differs significantly from other models in the series, because it has a redesigned front end with a tip-up barrel that hinges at the muzzle to open the breech. This allows the shooter to load a cartridge directly into the chamber and not have to operate the slide.

Up is my Glenfield/Marlin 60. Great condition with some minor usage marks. This is the 18 shot model, but not last shot hold open. I could possibly find the iron sights for it if you like. Has .22 rings and a Bushnell 4-12x40 scope sighted in and ready to go.

Asking $135 FTF in Wake Forest or ship on your dime.

I sold some AR500 plates on here a while back, 3/8" thick I believe.

I have 1 foot squares and 2 foot squares. Some have drilled holes to be hung, some dont.

$50 for small and $150 for large? Shipping would be separate obviously, and it's probably worthwhile just to pick up locally in the Charlotte or Winston-Salem area (depends on the week).

Just let me know!

I have these from a chain / wooden frame setup. I havent punched through or really damaged one yet. I just keep repainting the ones I use.

223, 303, 30-06, 45-70. At 50 and 100 yards ive only gotten divots maybe 2-3mm deep from any of them.

Handguns dont hurt it at all. 22, 38, 357, 44, 45.

I have 1 big one left and 10 small.

Also I might by interested in selling a large quantity of loose Lake City 30-06 blacktip (1954 manufacture). Can include the original cans depending on quantity. Unsure about price or how anxious I am to sell it, but figured I would throw it out there to look at offers.

Thanks,

1954 Lake City 30-06 Blacktip still available, just let me know how much you want. In the original cans.

Also 1' x 1' AR500 steel plates, 10 I think.

One 2' x 2' plate left. Pretty impervious to anything ive shot it with. Just keep repainting them.

Some of them are drilled with a couple holes for hanging them up. Would prefer local pickup (shipping could be pricey).
