I hope all of the bad things in the world happen to you, and only you, and I hope that someone finds and posts with a quickness the article that is bound to come out eventually about you being a homosexual/child molestor/horsefucker/assorted other sexual deviant."

COOOOLD BLOODED!

But really, that's a crisis of quite a few factors. It's deplorable that 1) someone with those grades could get into a law school 2) that this school tolerates sending people w/ such low GPAs in certain fields out into the work force. We wouldnt have to bitch about unqualified persons in the work force if they weren't qualified for the jobs in the first place, now would we? This is why I want higher standards in the university for teachers, for one. If we fix the problem at the root, we won't have to bitch about all the other stuff later.

Harsh, yes, but there's a job out there for everyone. You're just not working where you need to be. You need to be elsewhere. Tough. Do what you love, but don't fuck others over with your shoddy skills in the process. We could all be happy elsewhere. I'm planning to teach, and eventually get a PhD, but I know I'd be happy as something else like a plumber or a paramedic (jobs that are just as noble, although I dare say teachers are more important to the whole of the nation). There are many paths to happiness if you just take your time and think.

I hope he runs again soon.

I don't know, those aren't my majors, I can't comment on them. I just know that while NCSU's poli sci department isn't a cakewalk, it also isn't so taxing that a 2.4 is something to be proud of.

The problem arises specifically from the low opinion people already have of our humanities college. When you scrape through with that shit, it just reinforces a conception that is patently wrong.

HOW DID I MISS THIS? hahha maybe i should read SB more often. its funny so many people hate the guy. and we all know why, its not because he chose a faith and stuck to it, it's because he's so terribly mean. HA HA HA.

the guy was one of the most friendly and helpful people i ever met while in college, and when i made my stupid little run at SBP back in the day to shake things up, he was quick to let me know that he was there for me if i had any questions about the way stuff worked around there. he wasnt concerned with finding out which side of the political/religion grid i fell on, he just liked what i was doing and offered me his help.

the point is this, i guess.... i'd never pick the guy for a running mate, and i'd never go to his church... but i'll take 5 minutes and defend him here because he was never anything but a good guy to me. but to act someone youve never met is a bad person cause of some stupid shit you read in the media, and then having the nerve to come on here and mock his faith as if that makes you look intelligent. give me a break. i know he came here with some wild posts, and thats his right. but equating his "made up family" with his religion. wow. thats some immature shit.

or maybe im just a sucker for a guy that can trick thousands of people at a time with his computer hell, apparantly he manned up for it, and do personally know quite a few of you in this thread who would have fought that lie to the bitter end

but i wouldnt expect anything better from tww. only place on earth/cyberspace where you will find people with no ambition and no balls who would actually attack a guy who fought for what he wanted. maybe he felt like a roookie who needed a boost so he came up with a plan and it blew up in his face, who knows. i know he will never tell us this SURELY interesting story because you all tried to humiliate him. its easy to live a mistake-free life when you spend it in a chair laughing at other people's failures. and its sad when you pick and choose your battles based on what they believe. you poor kids.

i hope i remember to come back to SB one day and read up on this again, and chuck if you read this, id love to hear the story. if you do have an alias, PM me. or gmail me at firstname.lastname@

Wow man thanks! Wlfpck4Life alerted me to your post; thanks VERY much for that Jackleg! I'm glad I left you with a good impression! If you want, you can AIM me and I'll tell you the whole story. (Ironically, people on TWW care more about this non-issue than do the Cobbham people themselves)

^^ if you say "yep" as in "yep you should read it so you have some idea what you're talking about", then hardly - anyone who has spoken with me on a serious matter for more than 2 minutes can vouch that i keep up with my world and i can hold my own in a stupid debate about any stupid topic. just dont do it on the internet, cause to me the internet is a fun place. if you wanna talk politics (besides cops) then catch me in the real world and if youre really nice or hot and offer me a decent vodka drink, we can talk.

but i dont need to sit in the soap box to know that chuck speaks his mind and it pisses people off.
if you say "yep" cause you mean i miss all the good stories involving one of the maybe 20 people that had any positive influence on me in college, then i agree. i should do a better job of keeping in touch with people who saw my points, and didnt see my past. doesnt matter if i think he's a nutjob or not

It's been my experience that most employers don't pay any attention to your GPA. Maybe it's different for those interviewing for legal and medical jobs. Employers don't really even care that much about your Poly Sci degree as long as you have a bachelor's degree and relevant experience.

considering that most law schools are vastly more interested in your lsat scores and use GPAs to sift or further qualify candidates, it's entirely possible that he blew his LSATs out of the water...many law school applicants often are strong at one and deficient at the other, just like SATs

Probably did very well on the LSAT. On the issue of GPA, my GPA was shit. I stopped giving a crap about school in my senior year, and didn't care that much before then. I did everything I could to learn the information my professors were teaching, but I wasn't that concerned about the papers and other things. I focused a lot on other endeavors as well. I don't recommend behaving that way, but the result was that I got an education I wanted and it looks like I'm an idiot from my transcript.

(I don't know how low my GPA is, but it wasn't good. My last semester especially was very poor because I had already done everything I needed to graduate with one or two exceptions.)

When I got out of school I found a profession (teaching, ironically) that stimulated me and I bust my ass now, and as a result I am very good at what I do. The point is, I don't really think a college GPA is always correlative with success in the "real world," considering the requirements, expectations, and attitudes of college vs. life. I've met A LOT of really stupid people who didn't know anything about their field and who were completely incompetent who had received graduate and specialty degrees, which would imply classroom discipline. Others are brilliant.

High LSAT, I can't recall what it was but he told me at the time and it was Mid-90's percentile.

Is anyone confusing getting in to Law School with "Real World Success"?

No.

I was just noticing how people kept mentioning the awful GPA as an indicator of ability or some sort of qualification. I disagree.
