big game this weekend -- so big, in fact, that http://espn.com/ doesn't know that CBS will have the game (see their frontpage).

Im rooting for Alabama, just to screw over the BCS again. A team that wins the SEC, the best football conference, and goes undefeated should have a chance at the National Championship. Auburn should have been there last year.

I agree. I like what they were saying on SportsCenter the other day, if Alabama does go undefeated, and wins the SEC and doenst get to play for the National Championship, then the SEC should boycot all the BCS bowls and refuse to play in them. They said its gonna take something like that before the BCS fucks change some things.

Wouldn't Alabama move into 2nd if they beat LSU? That would give them better wins than Texas.

Alabama will have beaten two # 5 teams. But, I guess as usual, the SEC is beating up on each other so it prolly won't matter.

So is Alabama's. UAs defense is just disgusting. They have only allowed 19pts in their last 4 games(not counting tonight so far). It doesn't get much better than that.

If you are a fan of college football, you want Alabama to win this game so they have a chance of going undeafeated and making the BCS a cluster fuck again.

WIDE RIGHT BITCHES!!!

Why does LSUs FG kicker have his full name on the back of his jersey?

Doesnt matter, atleast you have a better chance of one of your guys catching the ball than of one rushing for 40yds to score.

btw, I say this is the 2nd best game of the year behind the USC vs ND game.

Ive got Alabama for 100$ at +3. Bastards better hold out.

Oddly, I push, because LSU isnt gonna kick the PAT.

I wanted LSU to win. Really hoping that USC and/or Texas will lose, just to mess things up. BCS is terrible.

College OT is also terrible. I've said that since day one of it. Its very exciting. But its also total bullshit. Look at today. You play 60 minutes of grind it out, really good, field position football. Then you set both teams up in the red zone. Your playing a completely different game in OT than in regulation. Might as well go to a bowling alley and settle it. Best of 3 frames.

basically everything you just said is wrong

college OT is a lot more fair than the fucking NFL

No, everything I said is right. I never said the NFL was perfect. But, at least they play the same game. There is a game clock. There are punts. Field position.
You can argue that the NFL is unfair b/c of the coin toss. But, with all the reasons college OT is unfair...throw the coin toss into that as well. Whoever gets the ball first has a huge disadvantage.

Like I say, it may be exciting, but its a garbage way to decide a game. Its nothing more than a shoot-out in hockey or soccer.

I like when people think college OT is fair, just b/c both teams get the ball. Playing a different game is not fair, and just not a good way to decide a game that teams have spent a week to prepare for.

I would be in favor of playing a variation of sudden death, where you have to score at least 6 points to win. I do think its kind of crappy to get the ball first, drive into FG range and kick w/o giving the other team the ball.

Also, if you'll notice in my last post, I said nothing at all about the NFL.

No college OT is about as fair as it gets in football. ATLEAST both teams get the chance to score. Thats a hell of a lot more than can be said about the NFL where A FUCKING COIN TOSS dictates the outcome of most NFL games.

Jesus, so you say it is fair if a coin toss gives the ball to team A first, and team A scores to win the game, even though with our magic time machine, we can see that team B would have also score a TD given the chance to. It is not fair if both teams dont have the opportunity to score. Plain and simple. Therefore, the NFL overtime sucks ass.

But, its not the same game. What if you have 2 great defensive teams. End of game is 0-0. No one can move the ball. You've just put both teams in field goal range by playing a different game.

Also, team that gets ball first in NFL OT history has won about 53% of the time. That doesn't make it fair, but it is a fact.

I'm not defending NFL OT. I am condemning college OT. I do think that if you had to score 6 pts in NFL's OT, that would be fair, or as fair as you can get.
There's a coin toss at the beg. of the game. Is that fair? You've got to start the game somehow. If you let a team go 80 yards, then yes, you lose.

NO SHIT. The team with the opportunity to score first with no chance of the other team being able to trump any score they make, is gonna win more times.

The only "FAIR" OT is to give both teams the ball and a chance to score, no matter what that scoring chance may be
.

Basically, the college OT system is fair. Its just not the same game. So, my conclusion is that it is not fair and not a good way to determine a game by playing an entirely different game.

Dude, what I'm saying is that its almost 50-50. 53% is basically half.
With all the NFL overtime games since 1957, there has been no correllation to who gets the ball first and winning. The team that loses the coin toss wins the game almost half the time.
