blazblue is one of my favorite games on the ps3, but i love fighting games, especially jap'd out ones. Did you play any of the guilty gear games? if so then I would definitely recommend picking it up.

if any of you have any spare pocket change, i can recommend getting one of the downloadable games from PSN store called Shatter. it's like a brickbreaking style game with a few different types of abilities like manipulating ball movement with sucking or blowing air, an energy bar that when it fills up you can start shooting a barage of bullets, and REALLY GOOD MUSIC!!! (electronic style music, its so bomb ass, probably the best part of the game). Its only $7.99, and has given me a good little break game to play when im bored of the others.

Yeah, I swapped a 500gb into mine when Dell was running a sale on them. It's pretty easy and painless. All you need is an external drive to do a backup/restore with.

^^^Did the HDD swap over the weekend with a 320GB Seagate. It was easy, but for playstations that were shipped before the 3.0.1 you'll have to also load a patch file from an external drive also before you can format the new drive and then backup your existing settings.

no harm done, but i wasn't aware until i did some digging. Added about 10 minutes to the total install.

absolutely. but if you haven't played the other games in the series then you won't really know what's going on.

picked up fallout 3 last week. i'm kind of glad i'm unemployed at the moment. otherwise i wouldn't be able to waste entire days playing it.

^^^ The PS3 has RIDICULOUS security. It hasn't been cracked yet. Even if it had, the dual layer discs are still ~$30 each, which makes it kind of not worth the effort.

/shrug, I use a wallpaper, so I don't have the swirling sparklies. There are a bunch of decent free ones on PlaystationStore, and even better ones but they cost like 99 cents or some bullshit like that.

You can also change the color of the stock background so its not that horrendous brown color

I was interested in this game until I started watching the gameplay videos. The graphical style was a real turn off for me and it really seems to lack any depth. Every enemy just runs straight at you and there was no teamwork or strategy required to progress. I'll wait and see what the reviews say and hopefully there is a demo of some sort.

^^ I'm looking forward to it. I was considering cancelling my netflix since my wife and I have been pretty horrid lately about sending back DVDs and I'm getting bored with having to watch streaming on my computer. Instead I just downgraded to the base unlimited plan, it should work out nicely.

Sucks that we've gotta use a disc at first though, although it does make me wonder if the disc can be used on any Blu-Ray player with BD-Live.

So I managed to resurrect my 60GB PS3. It needed a new power supply and then a new blu-ray laser, but it's working perfectly now. My original plan was to keep the Slim I had bought and sell the 60GB after I fixed it, but it turns out it won't allow me to transfer all my save files so I'm returning the Slim. It's a shame because it's a very nice redesign.

FYI, it was about ~$100 total in parts. The only tools I needed was a screwdriver. If anyone else is having power supply issues, or if their PS3 stops reading Blu-rays, don't pay Sony $150 to "fix it". You can buy the parts off Ebay and fix it yourself for much cheaper. You also get to keep your PS3, since Sony will probably just send you a refurb and you won't be able to transfer your protected save files to it.

V certain games have "protected" save files that are locked to whatever PS3 you created them on. Demon's Souls and Resident Evil 5 are two that come to mind.

Shrike, and others who are trying to transfer profiles to a new machine. Found this on NeoGAF:

"Here you go, straight from the mouth of a fellow gaffer whose name I've forgotten:

There is a documented glitch that works like this:

- say I have accounts 1,2,3,4.
- If I initiate backup using account 1, then when I restore to a second PS3 I get accounts 2,3,4 restored normally and not 1. (my comment: by "normally" he means with no copyprotection restrictions!)
- If I initiate backup using account 3, then a restore works fine for account 1,2,4.
- so to get around it, create account tester or whatever name you want.
- use it to initiate backup.
- go to new ps3, create tester1 (must be different from all account names on original ps3). - Then use it to restore.
- Then delete it.

easy as pie. I have personally done it 3 times. 1 swapped ps3 from Sony, one sold and bought a new one, one was a friend's he swapped it for a Sony one.

You will have to re download all PSN games, game patches... But your videos, music and all saves and themes, settings, even account icons will be intact.

I did not have a KZ2 save then, but I had LBP. And I was able to continue getting trophies. The one game whose save did not backup was High Velocity Bowling."

haven't tried it yet because I have yet to get a Slim. Sounds like it should transfer everything over no problem (other than having to re d/l all your games + such)

you have to sync the trophies by checking them in the XMB (under 'Game') while connected to the internet.
