Democrats have a chance to show they can turn things around. I honestly hope it works out for them. But I’m afraid they’re going to spend their time being punitive to Republicans and trying to push the country too far to the left.

We’ll see. I’m at least hopeful for now.

no

it’s a repudiation of the people who thought that being anti-trans is a winning issue

I mean, punishment is warranted for a lot of the things that have happened

True, but I don’t want that to be the focus.

Impeach Trump, impeach Hegeseth, that needs to happen.

I want someone to comb through all the tariff revenue to see where it went/is going. I want some accountability here. But I want forward momentum and not a party that’s stuck in the past.

2024 happened because Trump and his sycophants weren’t properly punished

they all need to be punished to ensure this doesn’t happen again. last night was a clear mandate.

You’re reading too much into it. It was a pissed off populace tired of being broke. Plain and simple.

Sure, everyone in your circle and on the far left want those in power to be punished. And to some extent I hope they are. But by and large, your average Joe and Joan voter just got done putting gas in their car and it cost them $90 for something that used to cost $60. They’re angry, but not for the same reason you’re angry.

^^ To be fair I am not far left (if anything far right on some issues) but I want them to be punished too. If we get bread lines and my kids are trans there is at least justice!

I wonder what data Republican has to say about this?

I know you'll die on this hill, so I don't know why I even bother, but did you realize that different issues have different weights with different voters at different times? When there's only a binary choice, it doesn't mean they endorse all your personal policy positions. This is so basic. It means that IN THIS CASE, the trans fear mongering was insufficient to overcome the higher priority issues to voters, not that it's a settled issue. Expect to see it again.

do you think Republicans are going to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on anti-trans ads again?

Yes, I do, actually. And when the margins in a future election are closer, it will work (again).

Unless Democrats can get their messaging and response to these tactics unified.

I truly don't understand why you can't see this for what it is, or maybe you are just willfully choosing not to.

If I were TGLs coach I'd say his message should be "we should always support human rights regardless of political salience"

You could just leave it at that instead of constantly posting in absolutes and only ever accepting your own interpretation of anything.

There's no room to have a discussion because you are not open to movement on anything I've ever observed.

Nice try, but it's not quite the flex you think it is.

You think sound bites like this come across as noble, but treating complex policy questions as settled absolutes isn't moral clarity; it’s just intellectual laziness wrapped in your own self-righteousness.

there’s nothing complex about not being cool with rights being stripped from a group of people

You're just saying the same thing, but wording it even more poorly. What point do you think you're making that we haven't already acknowledged, yet pushed back against because of your ineffective phrasing and word choices?

Again you fail to define what a right is and that there are reasonable disagreements about them. Also who defines what it is and enforces them. Also, the tactics of evoking them may or may not have the intended persuasive effect when used on an electorate. If you could clarify what they are without acting like some religious fundamentalist that has the one true answer people may not respond negatively.

In a car or airplane? Walking? What conditions do people have to prove they can safely operate them without endangering others?

Serious question: are we still talking about transpeople, or are we onto ICE, or voter ID?

I thought so, but just for a second, can you use your imagination and see why it could have veered into the other groups?
