The first thing that comes to mind is risotto. Bake/microwave/whatever the squash and mash it. Cook arborio and an onion and some garlic in oil for a few minutes, add 1/2 cup white wine till evaporated, then mix in a little of the mashed squash with the first dose of stock. Keep adding stock until it's done, then at the end mix in parmesan cheese and more of the squash. Season with black pepper and whatever else you fancy.

Other people would get more detailed instructions but I imagine you know how to make risotto.

I wish I had the recipe for a butternut stew my friend made me once. I am not big on blended (any vegetable) soup but this left it in chunks with other veggies and was really good. Maybe kind of like http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/spiced-butternut-squash-stew-with-couscous-recipe/index.html

how long will a mousse hold?

the recipe i have says to serve with at least 1 but less than 4 hours of refridgeration

however, the time of when i'd need it, is not conducive to this

so, i dont think i can make it the day before?

ok well you failed on that one^

so here's another

are there any reservations about freezing soup that's made with a not insignificant amount of wine?

Well shit, I never saw the last question But I would have said making mousse the day before is a no go.

I would think freezing soup with wine in it would work OK. Has it cooked long enough for the alcohol to mostly cook off? And what else is in it? I know some flavors are heightened by freezing, so it may alter it a little bit but I don't think it's going to ruin it.

[Edited on July 26, 2010 at 2:30 PM. Reason : I know I have frozen soup with a little bit of wine, but never a lot]

hmmm

well, i'll be adding ilke 16oz white wine, 8oz chicken stock and maters as the liquid components

standard mirepoix, home roasted red peppers, garlic, thyme, other shit

the high amount of wine vs stock was my concern.

guess we'll just find out!

i usually really looveee frozen homemade soups.

only cooking forl ike 30-40 minutes, and after seeing some paper on here a while ago about alcohol cookoff i'd say it's not gone

If I was to bring back a beer for you, would you want a dark or not dark?

So far I have on my list:

http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/208/646/
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/222/695

and maybe a Kriek - cherry beer.

Still doing some research, but those both are highly rated and I like them. I don't know any darks other than the special one I got

^^ I have no idea. Do hotdogs freeze and not get hard and gross? That would be my guess, that they want to minimize the foods they serve that aren't frozen. What I want to know is why they don't have a veggie burger. They need to get on that. Except I still hate McDonalds. It would just be nice to not have to hunt down a Burger King on road trips.

^ It gives me a sad. Maybe I need to turn into a raging bitch or something and then people would remember me.

I had forgotten my login. DDK posted on Facebook a few weeks ago and I tried logging in, but I had forgotten my password.

Fareako isn't my husband anymore, but oddly, a text in a group thread with him and his new wife, me and my current husband, begonias and some others inspired me to try to dig it up to look up a recipe tragedy from my past. And here we are.

^^ Whew, that's hard. My gut answer to that is always The Scarlet Letter, although I haven't read that since high school and I'm curious if my opinion would change with time. The Glass Castle also really hit me because I can identify with the fucked up family dynamic. That was a super awkward book club meeting.

My current line whenever I'm asked my favorite anything is: I'm a polyamorous bisexual. Please don't make me choose.

Yes. Back in my 365 recipes in 365 days period I was a novice and teaching myself to cook through following recipes. I thought I was decent then, but now I am solidly confident in my kitchen skills. I am excellent at making vegetables taste delicious, in particular.
