thanks for the simple recipe for cheese-- googling just gives me a million results with WAY too complicated recipes-- i just want cheese!! but you cant just throw that in a pot

does anyone have cheese recommendations? i love all cheese but as far as yummyness for bread & steamed veggies

what about recipes for chocolate?? i was planning on using chocolate chips, what else should i add?

im also doing a beef & shrimp fondue-- i was thinking beef broth but then someone mentioned a wine & water based broth-- can anyone comment on this?

eek - do not buy velveeta

go to the deli area at your grocery store and i'd pick out a vermont or wisconsin cheddar - you won't be able to tell a huge difference in the end more than likely (between the cheddars - you will tell a huge difference between velveeta) - just get a block and use a grater

heh definitely google a recipe - there are just too many and people have different tastes when it comes to choclate - some of my favorites include chambord and gran marnier with a white chocolate base

[quote]im also doing a beef & shrimp fondue-- i was thinking beef broth but then someone mentioned a wine & water based broth-- can anyone comment on this?[/quote[

i highly recommend using a red wine base - very delicious and gives a great flavor to meat

if anyone is in raleigh the rockford is a cute inexpensive place to go. and a place that you can easily talk to the other person. that is where we usually go.

The chocolate one is wayyyy easy.

Break up some good chocolate (dark) then put it in the fondue pot with heavy cream and some brandy or other liquer (like grand mariner) and just stir it until the chocolate melts!

Depends what cheese you like. I usually buy the bags of shredded cheddar blend. Or whatever is on sale lol.

For chocolate, this is one of the easiest recipes out there:
http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Chocolate-Fondue-230814

but I would use more chocolate probably.

^^ It doesn't use cocoa, it uses unsweetened cocoa powder. HUGE difference.

lulz, nm, I'm the one who fails at reading the recipe. Yeah don't use cocoa, use unsweetened cocoa powder. Or you could also use baker's chocolate or dark/bitter chocolate.

honestly mine is the easiest

You buy a block of dark chocolate from the grocery sto.

Break it up with heavy cream and some alky and just stir it until it's melted.

(like a cup and a quarter of chocolate to 2/3 cup of heavy cream)

My lady friend will be coming over, where I will treat her to sushi, miso soup, and desert sushi that I will be preparing myself. I have an awesome sushi place setting thing with plates/bowls/chopsticks/etc that I will be using. In addition, I will be acquiring some sake to complete the Japanese theme.

In addition she will be receiving flowers and probably a big package of Jelly Beans.

Just found out that I didn't have to work Saturday night last night so I haven't planned anything, Original plan was to get her 1 of her favorite flower and a bag of her favorite candy and get her roommate to let me in to leave it on her pillow with a note and do it today since I thought I worked Saturday night. Now I'm scrambling to find something to do, we're going out to dinner but past that I don't know what to do,

I got delivered the "just friends" line last night and subsequently my Valentine's Day plans are now out the window .

For future reference, my desert sushi doesn't look nearly that good. I usually make it after I've already made the regular sushi (which itself takes so fucking long), so it isn't quite as elaborate. I usually just season the sweet rice with coconut milk instead of rice vinegar and make nigiri out of it with various fruit, sauces, and cream.

Z: "So, what do you want to do for valentine's day?"
Me: "Eh, I dunno"
"[suggestion here that I won't post]"
"Nah...how about go-karting?"
"I dunno...where are all the girls gonna be?"
"Which ones? The ones worth a damn, the single ones, or any girls, period?"
"Any girls"
"The bar"
"Oh "
"Or else all the single girls will be at the theatre watching He's Just Not That Into You, because they're single on Valentine's Day because-"
"HE'S JUST NOT THAT INTO THEM!"
"We could go play skee-ball"
"Eh"
