On the last episode. Ellie and Dina sneakily escaping the radio building seemed like it was STRAIGHT out of the game. That and the subway horde/escape scene was really good.

The bad: Ellie: "I'm gonna be a dad!". Ellie hooked up with Dina once. Didn't even discuss a relationship or anything like that. Jesse is the dad, and you're about to get him shot in the head in a few episodes lol. Yeah we know that Ellie and Dina do end up in a relationship, but anyone who didn't play the game is gonna be like "wut?"

Might be the best done environment of any tv show and most movies

I've seen folks online that liked season 1 and the games really hating on season 2. Y'all think they are full of it? Haven't started S2 yet.

^there is a lot of hate for Bella Ramsey because she doesn't look like game-Ellie. Personally I don't really care. There are a number of things left out, but the games are like combined 60+ hours of content and lore while the show is one hour blocks. There is only so much detail you can fit into that time window.

Yea that's why I specifically said people that liked the first season. I figured the people that hate the first will still hate the second. Trying to separate from that weird group. Seems like the normal folks don't like season 2 either, or think it's not nearly as good as 1.

First season had an ep that was almost 100% gay and almost 0% pedro. I think people don't like the writing and maybe story digressions from the game, not culture war stuff. At least in the case I mean.

There seems to be a vocal group of despicable people that are attacking Bella Ramsey personally. Some of it starting under the guise of “she doesn’t look exactly like the game character” which is fucking dumb imo.

I’ve never played the game, and really enjoyed season 1. With that said, I feel like there are quite a few valid criticisms of season 2 out there, and that the quality of writing has noticeably diminished.

^yea i'm well aware of the former, on reddit there is a sub with those folks and then a more normal sub. The normal sub has been expressing the latter views which has made me hesitant to dive in. I really liked the first season but I think I would be OK thinking of it as a self contained miniseries.

It’s definitely cheesier but also they have an extremely challenging story to adapt given the medium change, and I could see some of the things being complained about as part of that effort

I’m trusting the process because they’re also doing a lot of things really right.

Just now getting into season 2. So far I have no complaints, other than I’m not sure where they are going with the smarter infected. I don’t recall them being a part of part 2 in the game, but it’s been a while since I’ve played it.

I think maybe folks’ issue with Bella in season 2 is that she seems like a better child/teenage actor than an adult actor? Maybe because she still looks the same? I’m just guessing.

^The stalkers in the game are just another evolution of of the fungal infection. Nothing new and people in that world already know about them. I think it goes runner > stalker > clicker > bloater, with bloaters taking something like 20 years to develop. So that is a deviation from the game lore. Not sure what they are planning with it in the show though.
