I was looking through Wisconsin's roster and (besides the Fr OL @ 280) all are above 315. and most were 330 or higher.

I wouldn't say our OL is small, but they ain't big.

At a certain point extra mass can become a hindrance unless you're whole strategy is to have your O-line fall forward and let the RB punch through whatever holes 1500 pounds of human flesh can create. Which is probably why Wisconsin's is so big

I'd like to see our return defense get some live game practice. If we score a bunch then they'll get reps in for kickoffs but it wouldn't be awful for those guys to see a few punts, too.

On the TOB show last night Mark Thomas said Liberty runs a 3-3-5 defense with DB #8 Brent Vinson being the key guy for blitz and coverage packages. Does anyone in D-1A run this style D?

i don't remember.

I thought he was saying that TOB would try to get us to go 4 and out so that the punt team could get some practice during the game on Saturday. I guess I misread. I just think that it is always a sign of a good offense if the punter hardly ever sees the field because it means that they score and/or are very dominate in time of possession.

Gentry has worked hard during his time at State. TOB should reward him with a setup dive that the other team isnt expecting. It would be awesome for him to break one big. However, it is not like he is going to use his speed to break away from the D. LOL.

my verification that we're not that small is from comparing us to OU, which we're really similar in size to down to the pound and inch, who i assume is a good sized oline but i could be wrong.

i think he just sucks. every time he gets into the game he looks too slow to even get through a gap before it closes, much less make people miss. i'm basing that off of like two years ago's spring game, so maybe he was just hurt.

^^^^ The guy is the heart and soul of our team, is a monster lead blocker, and lead the team in ST tackles, and has never had a carry. I think if you don't stand up cheer then you aren't a true football fan.

^That's what I was thinking. It's not like Gentry hasn't touched the ball. He plays hard and I appreciate everything he's done for the team...but it's not like he's, as another poster said and for lack of a better term, Rudy.

well i won't even be there, but what i mean is if gentry went in and got a carry, i wouldn't even think twice about it. that doesn't seem all that special for a guy who's not only played significant roles, but has scored touchdowns, plural.

^Exactly. Liberty might be a solid in the FCS (they didn't even make the playoffs last year), but there's a HUGE talent/skill/athleticism/coaching difference between an above average FCS team and a below average FBS team (not saying that we are, just in general).
