I think brackman had 0 fouls and 100% of his plays in the second half were good.

The game only finished about 20 minutes ago. It takes a while to write an article, proofread it, submit it, and have it accepted. It will be there.

Granted it wasnt the best win. But a win is a fucking win and its about time we get some fucking respect for being 2nd place in the ACC with no one around us.

ESPN, please wake the fuck up.

naw dude, they change the headlines mid game very often
they don't have to have a story, they can link the game tracker saying "LIVE NCSU MIAMI IN OT THRILLER"

nope, no attention

its ESPN's loss, they missed a good developing story.

When I can, I turn off the fucking announcers and listen to 680. The announcers are pro-ncsu and blatant about it, and I'm all about its.

Yeh, they really call it pretty even for being affiliated with NC State. They even show excitement when the other team makes good plays. I don't know if anyone could here in the background the announcer for Miami's Arena, but he was def not into the game- sounded like Eyor (sp.)

well if you get a lot of respect, you end up getting a lot of press and nearly all of your games on tv like Duke. you get the respect, you get the good recruits. you get the good recruits, then your halfway there to getting a championship. the other half is coaching, and intangibles (i.e. officiating, player controversies, etc.)

If Miami beats UNC on Sat., and Duke is Duke throughout, then the next conference loss for BC would pretty much give us 2nd outright in the conference. And im considering a worst case scenario where the bottom falls out for us where we lost 3 of our last 6.

Miami was actually surprisingly loud.

This was one of the most fun college games I have been to in a while. I went with three other NC State grads that live down here in Miami.

I took three pics before my camera died....

Pass to Evtimov...

Evtimov shoots...

And the crowd goes silent.

The night wasn't complete without a drunk-ass NC State fan yelling and being beligerent taunting Miami fans, looking for a fight....

cool article from miamis point of view of the game.

sounds familiar

"CUNNINGHAM: Close, but so far away
Published February 9, 2006

Coral Gables -- This was good and exciting and promising for the University of Miami basketball team. It wasn't great or memorable or satisfying.

It's a familiar place lately for UM basketball, on the cusp of something special before teetering back to simply good.

There's no shame in UM's 86-77 double-overtime loss to No. 16 North Carolina State on Wednesday night. There's no glory in it, either.

This could have been the start of a great run for UM, with a sold-out home game against North Carolina on Sunday followed by tests at Boston College and Duke. Instead, it was the end of a three-game winning streak and the start of that familiar feeling when UM threatens to elevate to the top level of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Remember UM's 3-1 ACC start last season, the one followed by four losses in its next five league games and an eventual fade to the postseason NIT? After letting this opportunity against second-place N.C. State slip away, the Hurricanes are staring at the possibility of a similar fade.

"Every team in [the ACC] is good," UM guard Guillermo Diaz said. "The next couple games are going to be tough, like today."

N.C. State is tough, so the Hurricanes showed moxie to come back from 15 behind a lively crowd of 5,179 and push the Wolfpack to the brink. Yet they weren't good enough to make a handful of plays in either overtime that would have secured a third victory over a ranked opponent.

UM is good enough to climb to third place in the Atlantic Coast Conference. It's not good enough to stay there, with Wednesday's loss and Boston College's victory at Wake Forest dropping the Hurricanes into a tie with B.C.

UM came back from 15 down to force overtime. Of course, it got there in the first place because it was sloppy with the ball and couldn't stop N.C. State's impressive half-court offense.

The Wolfpack can put shooters everywhere on the floor, and when it is executing like in the first half Wednesday, it's tough to stop. But the Hurricanes counter with three guys who can break you down off the dribble, so it's not like they have no answer.

"It's so difficult to defend them," N.C. State coach Herb Sendek said. "They are so talented."

That was clear during UM's second-half comeback.

The sterling three-guard combo of Diaz, Robert Hite and Anthony Harris attacked the basket relentlessly. Three-pointers by Hite and Harris in the final two minutes of regulation kept UM in it, and Diaz's strong drive to the basket tied it.

"We had them," Diaz said.

But then they didn't, even after Diaz's steal at the end of the first overtime. The Wolfpack raced to a 10-2 advantage in the second overtime, with UM turning the ball over, missing two critical free throws and continuing to foul N.C. State's big men while playing a small lineup.

So UM was left to lament the loss, and N.C. State escaped with second place in the ACC.

"To be on the road and do that shows tremendous constitution and heart by our team," Sendek said.

The Hurricanes showed the same, and that's why the fans still left at the end gave the Hurricanes appreciative applause. It could have been roaring approval.

Again, there's no shame in losing a close one to a team like N.C. State.

"They made plays," Haith said. "They are a great team."

Miami isn't there yet. Again."

does that qualify as a crowd? i mean, that would look pathetic in EITHER of our basketball arenas...
but then, i guess it is just a small private school...

^no

Even those stupid pre-season tournament games drew around 9K

but 9K in RBC probably looks worse than 5K at Miami.

the point isnt the number of fans...it was the obvious dissinterest by the area in their basketball team that was playing for second place in their conference.

Duke never just 'barely' fills up.

The BankUnited Center in Coral Gables is pretty small. There were still plenty of empty seats there, but it was surprisingly loud.

Miami basketball fans are much better and truer than the football fans, hands down. The basketball fans are alumni and students, whereas the football fans are comprised of the small alumni base, students, and a bunch of idiots and WalMart fans from Miami.
