Yeah I know exactly where that is, I live across from the lost treasure golf putt putt thing...I'll be in contact.
5/28/2010 9:10:45 PM
I live in Morehead but I'm in the area all the time because my girlfriend lives in Emerald Isle. She also works between the Dragonfly stores in AB and EI (you should go annoy her and act like a tourist, sawahash.Lost Treasure Golf is awesome.
5/28/2010 9:12:41 PM
We're going to captain bills tonight.fuck the sanitary...over priced and not that tasty.
5/29/2010 6:15:47 PM
Gonna be there in about 5 hours...who is down to do something?
5/29/2010 6:39:34 PM
^^They're both overpriced for what you get, but I'd still go to Sanitary before Captain Bill's. My Mom waitressed there (way too many years ago), and our family doesn't eat there anymore because they served us a pitcher of water 8 years ago full of diluted bleach. So yea.
5/29/2010 9:40:59 PM
Tomorrow we're be spending not as much time on the beach...my friends are a bit toasty from today. But then we're gonna head to Beaufort and eat at the Dock House and hang out down there for a while.
5/29/2010 11:38:17 PM
the only thing that needs to be said about emerald isle is the big oak fried shrimp burger.
5/30/2010 12:19:02 AM
om nom Dock House
5/30/2010 12:43:50 AM
I wish I was in Emerald Isle
5/30/2010 2:06:03 AM
We're heading out to Beaufort in about an hour. Then I'm having a party at my house.
5/30/2010 6:03:05 PM
I've been holding a thrash course in boogie boarding all week. Went to Shackleford Banks today and slapped a pony in the face.
6/4/2010 9:28:12 PM
^^So yea, Morehead is totally close to Atlantic Beach.
6/4/2010 10:11:36 PM
yo I live in MHC, for the summer
6/4/2010 10:19:52 PM
yo
6/4/2010 10:28:39 PM
^^You chose Fellatio City as a destination?
6/4/2010 10:33:20 PM
Random thoughts after spending a week at the beach:The weatherman is useless; as is weather.com. Go with your gut.Did the ferries from Beaufort to Shackleford Banks nearly double in price this year? I seriously think I remember it being $8 per person last year, but it was $15/person this year. Seems like collusion.I took my family out to Amos Mosquito's for the first time despite people telling me it was over-rated and over-priced. I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, it was like $25 per person after tip, but I'd rather pay $25 per person than pay $16 per person for something that tastes like some shit that I would get if I trust the Gordan's fisherman. It's a shame that you can get a $8 plate from the farmer's market seafood restaurant that beats 98% of the stuff at the beach that costs twice as much. It is what it is I guess. The waves on Emerald Isle-to-Atlantic Beach stretch still suck.I saw some dude with a white S-10 on Avent Ferry a couple of weeks ago with a sticker on his rear glass that said "IF IT'S TOURIST SEASON DOES THAT MEAN WE CAN SHOOT THEM...WELCOME TO CARTERET COUNTY". I'm sure this kid's "diddy" owns a roofing business that receives 90% of it's profits from tourists or commercial business that relies on tourists and he wouldn't be going to college in Raleigh (or doing whatever the fuck else he was doing here) if it weren't for that tourist money. Maybe his horizon will expand during his time here. Until then...TOURISTS ONLY...LOCALS GO HOME (or at least get the fuck out of Wake County).I have under-appreciated NC beaches for a long time. I like NC. I hope someone with premie access will revitalize the Eastern NC thread soon: message_topic.aspx?topic=551846There are a lot of Portugese Man of War at Atlantic Beach this time of year.I heard there is a lot of new stuff at Fort Macon, but I didn't get a chance to check it out.
6/6/2010 1:19:43 AM
New stuff at Fort Macon.Waves always suck this time of year, wait for the storms to whip them up and get some good body-surfing down and hit a few tourists.Tourists always suck, I don't care if you were one yourself.Amos Mosquito's is overpriced, but the food isn't bad. As a food writer, though, I won't return. I'd rather go to the fucking Four Corners Diner than Amos Mosquitos.Tourists always suck. And for the record, the vast majority of us natives don't make any money from the tourist trade--that is, those of us who aren't lucky enough to be making money from the tourist trade. I'll take you fishing on the Bogue Inlet Pier for a nominal fee and we can use my equipment yea son.Man'o'Wars are indeed abundant but will show up more in August and I will be on the beach and looking at them.Where all did you eat during your stay? You should have asked for some suggestions.
6/6/2010 1:29:24 AM
Four Corners is good. I usually try to grab at least one breakfast there, but I didn't make it this year. I didn't eat out much on this trip. Mostly cooked at the condo and took sandwiches/crackers when I was out. I did grab a flounder sandwich at the Fish Hook grill in Harkers Island.I have a couple of decent rod/reel combos that I use for pier fishing. I'm back in Raleigh now, but I might take you up on a trip to the Bogue Inlet Pier sometime.

My friends came last weekend. It was their first time at an NC beach...they normally go to Myrtle. They said they love it here. And yeah, most people who live around here don't need the tourists for money. The people who really profit from the tourists are the people who own little shops around here, or resturants...and me, since I babysit for tourists. The only think I am hating about tourists so far is just the traffic. It's so annoying getting stuck behind someone on the road that slows down at every fucking road.Or the ones who yell at the locals because our dog is sitting next to us but we aren't holding the leash.Oh yeah...and the next group of tourists I see that have a big group of people out and leave a pile of trash behind on the beach will see the wrath of Sarah. It happened last weekend and I yelled at them until they turned around and picked up their trash. They were just going to leave it there to be swept up to sea.

It depends on what type of job you go into. Some of the jobs are tourist dependent. Charter boats, ferries, my job, surf shops, The Sanitary...But just like everywhere else in the world there are jobs here that has nothing to do with tourism.
6/6/2010 10:50:27 AM
Without tourists you'd have one restaurant and a 40 mile drive to the nearest grocery store just like the rest of eastern NC.No grocery stores. No Wal-Mart. No convenience store right next to your condo. No banks and therefore no loan agents or tellers.Few if any public services - Cops, firemen, garbage men, street maintenance, etc.Nearly no construction.Few schools, fewer teachers and staff.Don't fool yourself. You'd all be suckling the teet of a small number of retired yankees if it weren't for the active tourist trade. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
6/6/2010 11:14:31 AM
But I would still have this beautiful beach
6/6/2010 11:16:03 AM

6/20/2010 10:48:30 AM
I was there from Thursday till Saturday, it was pretty nice. Though, the nicest part about was definitely the beach house we stayed at.
6/20/2010 10:58:33 AM
I'm heading down there right now to go work. I'll be working there all next week too.
6/20/2010 5:18:17 PM
Who is in town this weekend?
6/25/2010 12:13:19 AM
Spending a day at Sunset Beach and a day at either Wrightsville or Kure Beach this weekend.
6/25/2010 12:16:54 AM
Yeah. That's not in town. That's not the same county.
6/25/2010 12:17:41 AM
It's barely in the same state.

7/2/2010 4:57:56 PM

The Sheraton pier in AB. Pretty good dj. Plays a big variety of music and does karaoke. But it's not all karaoke. $1.50 miller light. Or coors light one of the two.
7/2/2010 6:24:27 PM

7/2/2010 6:37:08 PM
Mainland Roll Call of People That Spend Most of Their Time on the Isle But Have Lived On the Water Since Before the Isle Was Even a Destination
7/2/2010 7:46:09 PM
I'll be there tomorrow morning abt 7 am
7/2/2010 8:57:28 PM
It is a clusterfuck on the island.
7/3/2010 11:53:26 AM
Just as long as I can get me some Village Market for lunch without having to kill a motherfucker, I'll be good. Did you go over the EI bridge or the AB bridge?
7/3/2010 11:57:59 AM
I'm not leaving the island this weekend so I don't know what the bridges look like.
7/3/2010 12:11:25 PM
Living at EI year round... god damn the summer sucks b/c its a cluster fuck and the winter is even worse cause there is nothing to do.[Edited on July 3, 2010 at 12:52 PM. Reason : .]
7/3/2010 12:51:34 PM
^^^Haha, Village Market son. That or some Chowdaheads.I'm going to Emerald Isle in about two hours, wish me good luck.I'm staying the fuck away tomorrow though.
7/3/2010 1:26:43 PM
Going to Flip Flops to get me a burger.
7/3/2010 4:11:36 PM
Holy fuck. Shit was backed up across 24 for a good 1/2 mile trying to get onto the island. Thank god I only needed to get to Coast Guard Rd. Village Market will have to wait. Anyone hear all the sirens going down CGR about 90 minutes ago? I'm speculating a biker got plowed based on the response.
7/3/2010 4:18:35 PM
There have been sirens all day long. Mostly people doing stupid things. But yeah, trying to cross the road from my house to the beach today was awful, and the beach was so crowded...
7/3/2010 4:20:34 PM
set the island up
