I'm not familiar with the iPhone UI, but if her friend was named, say, Dana, couldn't she have accidentally clicked "Dad" instead of her name and not noticed? Granted, it's a monumental blunder, but it's a plausible mistake.

This sounds fake as hell.

It would have had to have been her, because the title on the chat is "dad" which means it's showing messages with "dad" and the dad isn't going to have himself named "dad" in his own phone.

And outgoing messages show up on the right in iChat and the iPhone's SMS app too, so it's the girl's phone (if real...).
