Everyone has a warm up period. I think it took me a few months from having signed up for the site not knowing much about it before moving into the regular poster thing. But all that was many years, too many years ago.

i lurked for the longest time because i worked for University Housing and couldn't "officially" participate, but wanted to be kept in the loop with what was going on on campus (this was back in the days of the last-ever Brent Road shindig).Nowadays I still check the site because if there's something going on in the world i KNOW TWW will be discussing it. one of my favorite memories was asking one of my desk aides, who posted regularly on TWW back then, how to pronounce "pwnt." He told me it was "pyoont," and even though I now know that to be incorrect, that's still how I "hear" it when I see it.

WHY DON'T YOU FUCKING POST SOMETHING?

i lurk! mostly in chit-chat. i check t-dub as often as i check my celebrity blogs and facebook (a couple of times a day when i'm procrastinating).it's entertaining. that's it. you guys are some clever, if not creepy, fuckers. and the reason i dont post is because a) i usually dont have anything interesting to say or contribute and/or b) i still maintain that this place is a breeding ground for idiots and i'm not totally cool with my name, handle, whatever being wrapped up with it. OH, and monorail cat is fantastic. keep up the good work.[Edited on March 13, 2008 at 9:30 PM. Reason : i spelled contribute wrong. ]

I generally lurk in Chit Chat, although Sports Talk is pretty entertaining sometimes, especially the Hurricanes thread (beep beep, right?).It's just really funny to read all the shit some of the self-righteous internet dorks have to say - and when I'm bored or procrastinating, TWW is much more entertaining than Facebook, or checking webmail for the eightieth time that day.

Been lurkin' hard since 2001. CC, Lounge, and Classifieds (mostly used gun thread) daily. Used to read/post in study hall when I was still in school. Started reading entertainment about a year ago to see other opinions on shows/games. Don't post much because usually someone on here already has posted my opinion. I'll let them get trolled for it instead of getting in the mix. It's just easier to lurk. I also come to TWW anytime there is a news event (manhunt, natural disaster, etc). TWW action news really is the fastest source of information. As far as users I follow, I like all of you. By lurking I can actually enjoy the trolls since I am not the one being trolled. I like watching two trolls try to out troll each other (you know who you are). To a lurker you trolls provide brief comedic relief and serve as a tool to get the pot stirred for good opinionated banter. I have considered posting more. At this point I am still on the fence and will continue to lurk.

I tried trolling, I'm just not very good at it

I should have lurked but I just jumped in and felt the wrath of tww for my noobishness. Still not a good poster by any means, but I think I've improved. I think one of my first threads was like "where can I find teh hotties at State?"
7/22/2013 4:19:16 PM

What is the threshold post count to getting promoted from lurker to poster?
8/17/2017 6:04:05 PM
I'd say there are a few people that know me, but despite that I'd say I'm probably considered a lurkerI've also shared some pretty entertaining personal drama in the past here too, so maybe that'll get me some notoriety too[Edited on August 17, 2017 at 9:46 PM. Reason : Sjzjd]

^^ it is not absolute, but relative.Someone who has 2,000 posts in 15 years is a lurker, but someone with 1,000 posts in his/her first couple of months on here is a sure fire poster. In my opinion, the cut-off is ~100 posts/year... if you have fewer, you are a lurker. Then again, this is not an exact science. If you log in once every 4 days, make a single post within a minute or two, then log out, and do this for 10 years, technically you are a "lurker", but are you really? A lurker has to read/browse a lot here without contributing much at all. But if you log in, post, and log out within a couple of minutes every few days, you are just not a regular contributor, but I wouldn't really call someone like that a lurker.

I only recently surpassed chickenhead in posts per day. She's at 8.5 right now, and I'm at 8.7. And she hasn't posted in almost nine years on account of being dead as hell.
