im trying to compare the galaxy nexus, htc one x, and galaxy s3. i am using gsm. this is to hold me over until a wp8 slider is out and wp8 supports goddamn etrade which would you choose for mostly resale but daily functionality as well? a friend works at google and after playing with his devices and seeing how well they're maintained (updates) and unbastardized, im leaning towards one, even though there's no lte support.

If you're using GSM and you're in an area with LTE, the Galaxy Nexus is probably out of the picture IMO. I'd probably go with the One X still over the s3. S3 has more RAM, but One X has a better screen according to most people and a better camera. stock software also looks nicer. plus if you're into modding, that's about to take off with the one x since they finally released kernel sources

if you're worth your salt you'd have downloaded it for free from the Amazon app store a year ago and therefore can download it for free again on other devices

ha turning off those damn sounds and vibrations on the keyboard were the first thing I did along with that annoying ass drip everytime I did something. I'll toss out Touchpal as another keyboard. Been using it for a while now and it works great.

And thanks google for free breakfast this morning. Did get a funny look from the cashier when I was using my phone to pay. He was all "wait you can do that??????????" Hack for non-Sprint GSIII users http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1794727

I'm not really seeing much use in it after I use up the initial $10 credit. The number of places that support Paypass is limited (McDonald's, BP, CVS, BJ's, Home Depot and maybe a few others in the area). Then you're limited to loading the google prepaid card or using a Citi Mastercard.

Same here. I have a citi card but the rewards are meh. Only reason I even still have it is because it was one of the two I got when I started college so those are the oldest.

I used ICS on a a Droid Maxx today, and I have to say, I was very impressed.

The interface was butter smooth, had a lot of nice touches. I didn't get to play with the browser too much (which has been a huge Android sore spot compared to iOS), but I have high hopes based on everything else.

It's the first Android OS that really competes solidly with iOS, IMO, and the first Android phone/OS that didn't feel like navigating through molasses.

Chrome on iOS doesn't have javascript acceleration, from what I understand. I'd switch, but Apple's "limitations" don't let Chrome unleash its potential.

have you tried Chrome for iOS? i havent but i figure the synchronization of open tabs on your computer's Chrome browser right to your phone would outweigh the speed differences overall

I was using Chrome before I got rid of my iPhone 4. The options were great and I honestly could rarely notice a difference in speed between it and the stock browser. I actually jailbroke just for browserchooser so that I could make it default. If you're on iOS, I'd definitely try it. Of course I switched to it immediately when I got my S3. I don't understand why Google hasn't made it stock in ICS.

Am I going crazy? I looked everyone in settings and there's no where to set gmail as the default send to email for applications. Everything always defaults to my exchange email. There's a check box in exchange settings that let you check it for default but if you uncheck it it keeps reverting to being checked. No default email settings in the gmail app whatsoever.

have you tried clearing app defaults? go to Settings -> Apps then select email, exchange, and/or gmail and hit "clear defaults"

There's no manage apps settings in ICS. There's a slightly different app setting but there's no clear app settings anywhere. I have no way to send stuff via my gmail account! This is frustrating.

-so there is a clear defaults but its blurred out for gmail, exchange, and mail app.

Yeah and from other apps. Think I figured it out. The email icon is always your secondary email account. If you want to use gmail to send stuff you have to navigate to the gmail icon when sending.

if you click on an email address, for example mailto:test@tww.com it should bring up an option box that asks which email account you want to send from...should be a check box at the bottom for set as default

I don't get why people would currently care about Google Wallet as much as they do.

You probably still carry a wallet anyway. How hard is it to pull a card out? This is beyond #firstworld problems.

Sure it's a cool toy to play with, but not something worth getting so RAWR RAWR RAWR over. What am I missing here?

People get mad at the carrier blocking anything. Speaking of blocking applications, Verizon just got a $1.25million slap on the wrist by the FCC for blocking tethering apps and now they have to add them back to the Play Store.

As for Google Wallet, I can see where it'd be handy with more widespread support. Plus it helps with the lazy people who don't want to look through their wallets.

Looks like the new version just converts any card to a virtual mastercard so any card will work where paypass is offered. Wonder if that will work with other cards that have rotating bonus categories.

Funny thing is that it seems like the only card that worked before, doesn't work now. GG Citi. A lot of people (myself included) can't even add a Citi Mastercard now.

So to answer that question http://support.google.com/wallet/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2647142&topic=2549787&ctx=topic

"About rewards points with linked cards
You may earn reward points for purchases through your card issuer’s credit or debit card rewards program (such as gas, grocery, and restaurants purchases, and overall spending), if applicable. However, your card issuer (not Google Wallet or The Bancorp Bank) determines and is responsible for whether rewards points or other benefits apply to purchases where Google Wallet facilitates the payment and then bills your selected credit or debit card.

If you receive additional rewards when shopping at a specific merchant, these benefits may not be applied when using Google Wallet.
