But I personally think there is a strong chance this is just to distract from the other stupid shit he said earlier in the week(about illegals voting). The press started hammering him on it, so he decided to start the news cycle over with (what I hope is) a throwaway comment he'll possibly never bring up again. 11/29/2016 9:12:17 AM |

A throwaway comment? Doubtful. His supporters have already latched on to it, like they've latched on to their flags. Besides, this is just one more comment in a string of comments he's made over his political tenure regarding the restriction of free speech.
As much as I'd like to smack people I see stomping on or burning flags, it is certainly within their rights to do so.

There are five tenets to the first amendment: freedom of religion, speech, the press, assembly, and petition.
Donald doesn't seem to respect any of them. 11/29/2016 9:25:17 AM |

Everyone on /the_donald is convinced he's playing 11th dimensional chess with the media and "libtards." Also that he's baiting Hillary into speaking out against it even though she has sponsored anti-flag burning legislation in the past. The fawning for trump over there is just too much. Where are the trolls? Or is there that much moderation on Reddit?

Calm down. I'm just pointing out your faulty logic of using a fucking sub reddit dedicated to Donald Trump as an example of a place that's free from bigotry/racism. You keep saying I live in a bubble, which I have fully acknowledged, but you're dismissing the fact that I grew up in VA and NC and my entire family, aside from younger brother who lives in Idaho, are all Trump supporters. I'm not a stranger to these types of people- some of my own students voted for Trump. After the election, I didn't attack anyone or post rants on social media, or even on here. I just have way more of a problem with Trump himself than the people who were gullible enough to believe his ridiculous promises. I don't need to browse any political subreddit daily (reddit is a terrible place to discuss politics in general- it's fine for plenty of other things) to look for glimpses of rational thought.
You still seem very caught up in the 'bargaining' stage of this whole mess. It's going to be far worse than you imagined.11/29/2016 11:35:31 AM |

Anyway....regarding the flag. Can I poop on the flag? I would like to poop on the flag. Is that permissible? Perhaps use a tiny American flag to clean up after the dog on a walk? I don't actually own a dog, or a flag, for that matter. But I don't want to limit my options.11/29/2016 1:15:00 PM |

I would argue it's far worse in terms of potential conflicts of interest. As has been debunked ad nauseum the Clinton's weren't using the foundation as a checking account. It actually was a charity foundation with a pretty good (great?) track record.

Trump loses 1000 jobs in Indiana : http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/11/29/carrier-says-it-has-deal-with-trump-to-keep-jobs-in-indiana.html
This is a good win for Trump, looks like the parent company gets 10% of their business from federal contracts and this was used to pressure them to only fire half the employees rather than all of them, in addition to other incentives and tax breaks.
I suspect this doesn't really translate well into a broad job-creating policy, but I suppose more public-private partnerships could be more effective than welfare to keep people out of poverty. 11/29/2016 9:45:46 PM |

It will be interesting to see what knobs they twist and if they basically just ended up throwing money at Carrier at the behest of their competitors/taxpayers, or did they make some arrangement that could be translated to all companies/corporations.
