...because college kids are known for consistently avoiding dumb decisions. I agree that he should be held to a higher standard, though.some good news, btw:

i don't necessarily disagree with others...i would have no problem with the staff kicking him off the team. but this did apparently happen back in February. so i would hope the coaches have kept a very close eye on him since then. seems like a lot of DD's comments about Shad maturing and growing up came this offseason, after the apparent failed drug test.
8/28/2015 6:50:43 AM
Should've had a fall guy
8/28/2015 7:25:39 AM
We are not above unc and fsu. Maybe tob was but he was an outlier.
8/28/2015 10:16:23 AM
^ Was TOB really that great of a disciplinarian? Relative to other coaches, I mean. I know he talked about being a Marine and had the reputation of being a disciplinarian. But I don't know that I can really recall that he was tougher on this type of stuff than most other coaches. Didn't Sweezy assault a bus driver and steal a tip jar or something...and have a drug charge on a separate occasion? He stuck around, maybe served a couple games suspension, I don't recall.

"Indefinitely suspended" for the summer.

kinda crazy that only 3* of those guys have even been in for a single snap as a college WR(*apparently Grazen was in for one play against USF, but close enough)[Edited on August 28, 2015 at 4:39 PM. Reason : ]

double post for the most obvious part of the depth chart at this point
8/28/2015 7:30:45 PM
so I think they've released every position except specialists at this point
8/29/2015 1:16:30 PM
Released specialists today. There's a pic around, but I'm just posting quickly from my phone. All 3 freshmen are starting with the walks backing them up, as expected
8/30/2015 6:30:27 PM
for returns they listed Cherry as punt returner, Dayes and Hines as kick off returners

I keep trying to make bets with ECU friends that State will finish better than 7 wins.I'm not crazy to think that am I? First four, then UNC Syracuse and Wake all suck...and only one more?
8/30/2015 11:11:55 PM
Bovada has us at 7.5 with no juice so if you consider your bet lost with 7 wins, then it's 50/50 per Vegas
8/30/2015 11:49:00 PM
^^ It depends how much the bet is for? I'll take it for anything <= $100
8/31/2015 12:30:06 AM
i think that 7 wins is a very reasonable expectation. i would take that bet. if it was 8 wins (regular season) i'd still consider taking that bet.
8/31/2015 7:41:44 AM
7 wins is probably a reasonable pick. I know you list Wake as a bad team, but I don't think we've won a game @Wake since P-Riv was here. Personally hoping we just finish .500 or better in the ACC.
8/31/2015 8:44:22 AM
i just re-read that...and i guess "better than 7 wins" means 8 wins or more. which makes a little trickier, but i'd still take it.
8/31/2015 12:08:25 PM
several Wolfpack articles on N&O's sports front page today.Decock says:
8/31/2015 1:52:02 PM
I agree. Taking the $50 bet then.8 wins or more.

The indoor practice facility will be open to fans to visit before the Troy and EKU games.

^^that game ruined a top 10 matchup in Columbus, OH the next week. That game still lived up to the hype, but I digress.

I remember Amato being pissed about playing a conf game in week 2 right before tOSU even before the season started.[Edited on August 31, 2015 at 9:42 PM. Reason : also, roll call for all those that were at the horseshoe that day]

So apparently there's a pedestrian bridge across Trinity this year to connect the student lot with the stadium.
8/31/2015 10:59:14 PM
worthless without pics
8/31/2015 11:03:29 PM
nah it's parallel to Trinity, immediately after you cross it on Youth Center and head towards the stadium through Gate B. someone posted pics on PP but not sure if they will link right over here cause they're on photobucket

He should have amazing numbers going into the louisville game. A big game there and hes suddenly a big time heisman candidate.
9/2/2015 11:35:25 AM
We would have to go undefeated for anyone from our team to get remotely close to a Heisman and that isn't going to happen so whats the point?
9/2/2015 12:22:30 PM
Man..I'm cautiously optimistic about our team this year. I hate being optimistic. It almost ALWAYS leads to disappointment.
9/2/2015 12:24:39 PM
I think weve shook those ghosts. We have a system now and have never lost a game we should have won.
9/2/2015 12:46:35 PM
seems a little low for getting the RVs in there

Dude, WTF man. Nick, throw us a bone here bro. What you said may be true, but keep it hush man. We're trying to fake it till we make it brahsyphillis. http://deadspin.com/the-acc-sucks-but-you-should-watch-it-anyway-1718314039

Wolfpack fans are not about "This is our year". We are eternal pessimists, not optimists(example: Liverpool fans)
9/2/2015 3:38:38 PM
LOL i'm not gonna use that thing. too many damn stairs.
9/2/2015 3:40:05 PM
^^^i don't exactly get that. is he saying that state fans constantly are the ones saying "this is our year" because i don't think that's true. state fans tend to be more of the "wait till next year" variety.also, that whole article is dumb imo. the acc isn't that bad. the ACC may go unrepresented in the CFP but it won't be because the conference is bad. i think national media types got used to the ACC being down a few years ago and still haven't quite realized that ACC is pretty solid now. Thanks guys, I feel much better now.
9/2/2015 3:56:22 PM
I try to avoid paying attention to NC State football to keep my stress levels down but I decided to look at the schedule this year and holy fuck, could we have a more boring first four games/out of conference schedule? I guess the benefit is we sure as hell better go to a bowl game but why would anyone think this is a good idea?
9/2/2015 7:46:05 PM
^think part of it is due to somebody backing out last minute and us scrambling to reschedule. ODU did us a favor last year by playing us last minute when somebody bought out our series (maybe LSU or some name program like that)...on the condition we go on the road to play them this year. the south alabama thing, IIRC, was a leftover from Lee Fowler. it's a shitty schedule for fans, but it'll help guarantee a bowl and a nice looking record. and it's maybe not a terrible strategy for a team in our situation, imo. look at UVa recently...they've had brutal non-conference schedules and have been a laughing stock. we can have a laughable OOC and still go to a bowl gamae this way. but it's terrible for season ticket holders and fans.
9/2/2015 7:57:57 PM
Yeah, essentially ODU did us a favor by giving us a home game when we were in a bind so we had to agree to a road game. We're like one of three or four ACC teams to be playing at ODU in the next few years though.South Alabama was some random left over from the Lee Fowler era. Future seasons will be better with Mississippi State, Marshall, ECU, and West Virginia. I'm excited to see some better teams, but am not looking forward to seeing ECU or WV fans come into Raleigh and having to deal with that shit on game day.
9/2/2015 8:28:22 PM
Well that makes me feel a little better, I guess at least if we don't go 4-0 I will know the rest of the season isn't worth watching.
9/2/2015 8:56:19 PM
Our OOC schedule is garbage, but it doesn't really matter overall. We're trying to pad our record with wins for recruiting purposes and making sure we lock up a bowl bid.OOC really means nothing other than building experience and getting your team ready for the regular season. Your bowl seeding depends on conference record, not like we're a contender for the playoffs anyway. A little worried that playing those 4 smaller schools won't help us prepare for Louisville, but at least we're having some road games. Louisville has 1 neutral field and 3 home games before playing us, but 2 of those teams will potentially be top 10 when they play. This time last year people were saying our OOC was really weak and then we went out and almost lost 2 of them. Hopefully we won't come out flat and have to rally to win any of these games.
