I don't think it's as insane as the Mikal Bridges trade. The Magic are paying to dump KCP's salary in addition to acquiring Bane.

I mean they're trying to win next season. They've got like 4 starters now aged 22-26, draft picks aren't going to make much of an impact on their roster. Having Bane as the third option behind Banchero/Wagner immediately makes them A LOT better.

Yeah the KCP contract was bad, but i don't think anyone could have seen him just dropping 5%+ in 3 point shooting overnight. And now they've replaced him with a much better player. All for the price of (most likely) mid/late firsts.
