What's your approach to this? Are you okay with whatever table, pencil, or notebook that you come across or are you a bit more neurotic? Or minimalist? Or extravagant? And how does that relate to your work.I can work anywhere, but I've noticed that I feel a lot less focused when I sit down. It's weird cause you'd associate sitting with well... "sitting down to work". But I feel uncomfortable at a typical desk and chair. I feel more focused in 'uncomfortable' positions. Not to say that I can't sit at one or need to be "running around" or whatever... I had no problem sticking to my desk in school or in classes now. But now I just feel dead when I sit down at a desk with a laptop.

I'm in a near perpetual state of misunderstanding.

For my job, I keep a tidy workspace. Noise-canceling headphones are great for my focus. I like listening to certain songs over and over because something about their rhythms work for me.I transition between sitting and standing a lot. I sit on a cushioned stool to help maintain my posture. I use a motorized standing desk, too. Standing works well for me because I have a habit of pacing. I can't maintain my focus as easily if my movement isn't free.Switching to a single ultra-wide monitor helped my focus a lot. I used to have two widescreen monitors, but arranging windows and switching from one to the other wasn't serving me.If I'm not working at my usual workspace, I like to have a notebook and a pencil. It's best if it's college-ruled paper and a mechanical pencil, ideally this drafting pencil I like, but I'm flexible. Been like that since high school.

Get at least 6 hours of sleep.Drink two cups of coffee or 1 cup of coffee + 1 200mg caffeine energy drink.Always wear headphones while working. (It's something that I have been doing for years, and it's probably just a comfort feeling at this point. Sometimes I forget to turn them on.)Put your nose to the proverbial grindstone and focus.Find work that fulfills you or pays the bills.
