I have a PS4 preorder that I am thinking of canceling. Wanted to see what it might fetch.

Comes with Battlefield 4 and 1 year of PS Plus.

You should be able to find someone here willing to take it off your hands.

$600 if I need to meet, $575 if you come pick up.

For reference, I'm seeing it sell for $650-700 on fleabay.

^Final value fees are 10%. Plus I'm lazy--hence $25 discount to pick up. And I trust TWWers not to rob me more than I trust eBayers not to claim Amazon never delivered and get their money back from PayPal.

They didn't learn to build extra from the PS3/360 launches. Looks like they're sold out until 2014, unless you can get one of the few at random stores on launch day.

Only asking for ~$40 more than the price with tax in a store. Can also schedule it to go straight to your door on launch day if you prepay.

I'd definitely suggest selling locally. My Watchdogs Bundle (minus Watchdogs) sold for 600 the other day and my net profit will be about 100 after fees, but I'm nervous as fuck that something's going to go wrong with a shady buyer and they'll say it's broken or never received or UPS will pull some shit like below.

I really wasn't looking to make much more than some beer money and maybe a PS3 game. I had full intentions of letting the order go through until I found out both Watchdogs and Drive Club were delayed.

OP's bundle with PS+ and BF doesn't sound like too much of a stretch for someone needs launch day delivery.

^Thanks for the advice. That's what I was thinking too. Hope they don't do it to you, but it's always a risk with PayPal favoring buyers. Will probably just cancel if no one wants it. May try Craigslist.

I pre-ordered for a friend who was unemployed at the time. Still is and can't afford it, hence me selling it.

I don't know what I'm going to do. The payment just came through in the form of an e-check (est clear date of 11/8 with worst case being 11/13). Apparently the limited time I've spent on /b/ caused me to inadvertently dox the shit out of the winner and the source of the payment.

I've been searching for about 2 hours trying to find some form of protection and I'm coming up pretty empty handed. I've been a member with ebay for 10 years and PP Premier/Business for almost as long, but all I see are horror stories of instant chargebacks and scams.

Refunded and requested a mutual agreement to cancel the sale. Too risky.

^Sounds like a good decision. Feel free to list it in here too

I'm thinking it could be a good bet to hang onto these things until Christmas. Prices might go up. At worst, I'm out on return shipping to Amazon with the holiday return period. Or can probably at least break even.

I was leaving a bunch of feedback yesterday on ebay (for buying and selling), and for the listings that had Playstation or Xbox in it, ebay popped up an arrow to "report misconduct" or "scam" or something along those lines, with language urging me to report any misconduct, but those prompts appeared only for those console related listings. I thought it was weird. Must be related to these new consoles coming out...

The buyer responded pleading that I come up with an alternate solution.

^Any alternate solution that sufficiently protects you would probably go against ebays/paypal's ToS. Bitcoin or cash? Doubt they'd go for those.

Your alternative is to deliver it to your house, open/make sure box looks fine, weigh everything and take pictures of the weighed item, and then ship via FedEx (they also weigh). The biggest issue with these scam returns is they'll send you an empty box back with a brick in it and keep the item plus the cash. Unless they're truly nefarious and send you back something that weighs the same as the system/packaging, you can probably catch them in their lie.

But a huge PITA for not very much reward. With the 10% FVF, you're probably better off on Craigslist, assuming there isn't some huge supply and they're just building false demand.

I actually sold 4 360s when they came out. Waited in line for them at a Worst Buy (only one in the area that had more than a few). Ebay was more impartial at the time, whereas now they always favor the buyer unless they're caught like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukAfAIuGuFQ&t=1m14s

Wow Grandmaster, you are a paranoid motherfucker.

Look, you receive the unit sealed. Take a picture. Send it FULLY INSURED via Fedex or UPS. Require a signature on delivery (so they dont just drop it at the door unattended).

Clearly denote in the auction that since this is dropshipped, sealed merchandise, you will not accept ANY returns or refunds. If you want to be really paranoid about it, take pictures as you hand off the item at the carrier, still sealed.

This is not risky. You have maybe a .01% chance of getting scammed. Don't sell to 0 feedback buyers. ONLY ship to verified paypal addresses. ONLY ship to the continental US. ONLY ship to buyers with 100% feedback.

I've been "scammed" once in ten years and hundreds of auctions as a seller, and in the end eBay actually sided with me and refunded all my fees and banned the buyers account (which had been around for years and was legitimate).

The people who get scammed on ebay are the idiots who ship to unverified addresses, dont require signatures or delivery confirmation or insurance and try to penny pinch everything along the way.

Hell, if you REALLY want to have true chain of evidence, VIDEO record from the moment you receive the box from the carrier to the moment you drop the box back off at the carrier to send to the auction winner.

Noen, I know how to successfully sell shit on eBay and avoid getting scammed. My auction like a great number of others offered release day delivery by changing Amazon ship address upon payment to the winning bidder.

I know that I could still re-ship it with signature verification on the 15th, but that's not what my auction described. If the console is actually going to get delivered to my house first, then I'm either going to post something up on CL for f2f cash or sell it at cost to a friend or relative that realizes they're 20th in line to buy one of five consoles.

I got an an offer from Amazon that's only good for people who pre-ordered. BOGO game. Can throw that in for $60 (cost) to get 2 more of Killzone, Knack, AC4, Madden 25, NBA 2K14, FIFA 14, Need for Speed Rivals, Just Dance 2014, Lego Marvel Super Heroes, Injustice, Angry Birds: Star Wars, or COD: Ghosts.

EDIT: Same as this B2G1 that's for everyone, except better: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1001500321

Did you get anything for it?

I got my pre-ordered one yesterday. I can't decide whether to sell it or open it. Even if I sell this one, I know I'll end up buying another one eventually. Not sure if the potential profit is worth dealing with the ebay scammers and craigslist stabbers.

Maybe I should just wait and post it on craigslist Dec. 24th

I would sell it if I had one just because I decided to wait until the price drop/new improved model in a year or so anyway and the game library expanded a bit. If you want to play it right away i'd hang onto it. I just can't get RROD and YLOD nightmares out of my head from last generation.

so after ebay and paypal fees you basically broke even?

Guy who bought my galaxy s4 just told me in broken english that the touchpad (I assume this is what they meant) stopped working and 5 minutes later opened an "Item Not As Described" dispute. Never selling anything on ebay again fuck shady people.

I'll make around $100. Maybe a little more since I used an Amazon trade in promotion for half off the controller and some credit card rewards to pay for everything.

There's potential for shadiness using eBay, I agree. I got the insurance and required signature on it so hopefully I'm covered there. If the system happens to have been doa or the buyer turns out to be an asshat I'll just have them mail it back.

take pictures of the serial number of the one you sent, but i doubt it will matter. if the buyer is an asshat, i'm sure ebay will just auto rule in favor of the buyer and require they get a refund. Even if they send their broken pos ps4 back to you and keep your working one.

I got $600. Although I thought the system came with the PS+ inside and apparently it was an email code. So I can still sell that separately or keep it for when I perhaps a console for myself.

If I had sold it on eBay, I'm sure they'd be doing a claim by now.

I also got a BF4 battlepack that worked for my PC version, and made an extra $10 selling the coupon for Amazon BOGO games.

$100 cash
$10 Amazon
1 year of PS+
1 Battlepack for BF4 on PC.

Almost as good as I got off each of the four 360s I sold when those released, but way less effort. I lined up for those and sold on eBay.

^Nice. I'll probably get one in April, after all the March games like Infamous come out.

Just picked up an Xbone from Amazon. Last round of pre-orders.

^So, looks like PS4 demand isn't as high as I thought/trolls argued it was. So I'll sell my PS4 (sealed) for $400 if you pick up/meet me close to Raleigh Costco. Otherwise, I'm returning it to Amazon.

I've had people on Craigslist offer me $3-$350. One even said, and I quote, "Mann U Tryna Let Dat PS4 Go On A Payment Plan...." Had another person cuss me out after I questioned why they would think I'd take $350 when I could return to Amazon for $392--do people actually need cash that badly?

^Probably by looking at me. But apart from that, I said I'd provide a receipt. If they didn't seem like a crackhead who called me "nigga," or the other aforementioned comment, I'd even be willing to show them that my receipt matches my DL address. Although, to be fair, they'd have to look pretty damn respectable for that. I'm doing them a favor in giving it to them for the tax free price right away vs. waiting for restocking and shipping. To try and push it after I've already told them I can get $392 from Amazon--that's just stupid.

^^At least be accurate and call me a cracker. What's up with all the slang, too? I hope I was just being trolled by that one person. I can't believe someone would say "Tryna" in a text to a stranger; it made me cringe! Anyway, I don't need anyone's respect who uses such ignorant language, or wants something for nothing. What I need is to not have to pay for their PS4. People like that make me want to become a Libertarian.

^What would you call it? It would be win-win. They're trying to take advantage. Guess I shouldn't be surprised. They obviously weren't given a better upbringing, as evidenced by the language.

Just before I took down the ad, I actually had one person who wanted it and was going to pay, but I already put too much time into it. Thankfully, Amazon said they'd waive the return fee, so I got what I wanted.
