Any of you networking geniuses got any tips for getting a SIP phone to work w/ a netgear wnr2000 router on comcast internet?I've opened ports 5060-5065. I can't receive calls and my outbound calls last a few minutes before dropping out.

Does comcast support sip? They may be blocking it as you arnt on a "business plan". Inbound still sounds like a firewall issue. Also who's your sip provider do you meet their connection stuff (auth ports bandwidth etc). Also how is your qos? Voip needs priority to function nominally.

I'm beginning to think it's comcast blocking it. The sip is from my company in Washington.

^is that a joke? everytime i've talked to them it's been awful. The last woman didn't know the difference between a router and a modem and didn't know cisco acquired SA and kept telling me comcast didn't give out Cisco equipment, only Scientific Atlantic.I've been dreading calling them, but it's probably what i'll have to do.

SIP is a bitch to get working over any sort of NAT setup.http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/9399it's a hell of a lot easier with a STUN server.
