Whatever it is you eat make sure it's nutritional and won't aggravate your inflamed gum tissue. When I had mine out I tried to drink those single serve Muscle Milk-type protein drinks at the grocery store as well as Ensure for the added nutrients. Remember that your body is trying to heal and doesn't have access to the food it would normally use for self-repair, so don't eat shit like pudding and jello because there's not much nutritional value for your body to use.

applesauce, broth-type soups with soft veggies, nothing with a lot of spices. you'll be able to eat basically anything soft in a few days.

I had mine out a few years ago. I LIVED on KFC mashed potatoes. I think I was pretty lucky; I had no swelling, no nausea and next to no pain. Mostly, I was just frustrated not being able to eat what I wanted to eat.

i remember taking lots and lots of pain relievers, and then sleeping through the whole next day.

You aren't supposed to eat things like oatmeal and grits because the particles get stuck and make very bad things happen. But if they gave you the squirty thing to clean out the wounds (and you actually use it) then I guess it isn't the end of the world.
5/8/2008 9:41:04 AM
Don't drink through a straw, you can get dry sockets and I hear that hurts like hell.
5/8/2008 9:41:49 AM
